Judoka Kim Ha-yoon (Ansan City Hall) won a bronze medal in the women's 78kg+ category at the International Judo Federation (IJF) Hungarian Masters 2023.
Kim defeated Karen Stevenson (NED) in the bronze medal match of the women's 78kg+ category on Sunday (July 7) at the Budapest Sports Arena in Budapest, Hungary.
After losing a half-reversal to China's Shi Yanxu in the third round, Kim won a half-reversal against France's Lea Fontaine in the loser's bracket to advance to the bronze medal match.
Lee Jung-yoon (KH Philux) in the women's under-78 kg and Yoon Jae-gu (Pohang City Hall) in the men's over-100 kg lost their bronze medal matches. Lee lost her bout to Ukraine's Yelizaveta Litvinenko, who gave up half of her points for a takedown and half for a reversal of an upkick. Yoon Jae-koo lost to Japan's Tatsuru Saito in a ground-and-pound bout.
Judo standout Kim Min-jong (Yangpyeong County Office) 고스톱 suffered a shock loss in the first round. Kim lost the bout to Georgia's Gela Zalishvili with half a rear-naked choke and half a press.
