Go Scouts!
From Ms. Raeker
I cannot believe the school year is coming to a close. I know we say this every year, but boy did it fly by! Due to MAP testing, there will not be formal counseling lessons this month, but I will be taking each class outside for extra recess time. I am looking forward to having fun with the kiddos! I have enjoyed getting to know your children and spending time with them. I love seeing their smiling faces every day and cannot wait to see them again in August. I hope you all enjoy your summer break!
Feel free to reach out by emailing sraeker@mvr3.k12.mo.us or call 636 271 1444 and ask for Ms. Raeker.
From the nurse
If your child has borrowed pants from the nurse's office, please be sure to get those items sent back to school as soon as possible!
Please note, if your student is not enrolled in Summer Discovery and has medicine at school, please make arrangements to pickup any medication from the nurse. Remember, medication must be handled by adults and cannot be sent home with your students. Any medication left after Summer Discovery ends will be discarded appropriately.
MUSIC
Pre-K and Kindergarten will have a song(s) for graduation on the last day of school. Students in Second, Third and Fourth Grades need to continue reviewing their music vocabulary words for the quiz the third week of May. Study guides were sent home in January and can also be found on our Google Classroom pages.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me through email at rfenelon@mvr3.k12.mo.us or through the ClassDojo Messenger.
Art
It has been very busy in the art room this month! PreK loves to read in the art room! First graders with some abstract art using bingo markers. We made Earth Day art! And students of all grades learned about Georgia O’Keeffe and her giant flowers. Some students painted, some colored, and some did both! Their flowers are great! Thank you so much for sharing your artists with me this year. We have learned a lot and I enjoy seeing what they create!
Communication is key! I can be reached at cpatterson@mvr3.k12.mo.us or by calling the Nike office.
Library
Wow! What a great year! A couple of things happening in May. ALL library books are due on May 11th! If your child has an outstanding book at the end of the year, it will impact them being able to check out next year. Overdue notices will be sent home the last two weeks of school.
Students in grades PreK- second grade have been listening to this year's Show Me Reader books. The winner for the entire state this year is Scaredy Snacks. Ask your kiddo what their favorite Show Me Reader books were for the year. I had a few third-grade students also read these books to be part of my book club. I also had several fourth-grade students read the Mark Twain books. The Mark Twain book winner for the state is Millionaires for a Month. Students who are part of my SMR and Twain book clubs will have a small reading celebration in the May.
At the end of the year, I will be sending out information about Summer Reading activities here at Nike. Students who complete some summer reading will get a small prize.
PE
The year is winding down, but what that means is the weather is warming up! With that being said, please make sure your child has sunscreen with them if they burn easily as we will be having PE outside whenever weather permits. Also, please make sure your child wears PE appropriate footwear on their PE days, or pack a pair of shoes for PE.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out and email me at dmissey@mvr3.k12.mo.us
Title Reading
I can't believe it's May already! I want to thank everyone for all your support and hard work this school year in your child's reading. I have seen so much progress this school year. This month we are focusing on comprehension. Comprehension is the ability to understand and draw meaning from text. We will have an End of the School Year celebration. I will send out information closer to the date. Also, I will be collecting your child's reading bag at the end of the month. Please continue to read at home and looking forward to seeing everyone next school year!
Thanks,
Mrs. Hollstein
