Before the student presentations, we are providing a parent informational meeting on body safety with Terry Hall. Please join us to hear about this! It will be at North Side on Monday, December 9th at 5:30 p.m.
Our winter music program is on Thursday, December 12th at 6 p.m. This is for students in grades 1, 3, and 5. These students will also have art work displayed for family viewing. Our students have been working hard on their songs and are excited to sing for you!
During the week of December 9th - 13th, our PTO will be providing students with a chance to purchase gifts for their families at our 2nd annual "North Side North Pole." More information will be coming home soon!

Building RESPONSIBILITY in children...
During this childhood stage of social development, we also want to instill responsibility in our children. Responsibility includes rules and consequences, developing empathy for others, assigning chores or things to do routinely at home, and allowing them to make choices. Most importantly, we MUST model responsibility for our children. As a team, we must show them what it looks like!
To tie this into education, model and show our children that you, too, value education and learning! As adults, you and I have the responsibility to provide for our children, this includes shelter, food and making sure their needs are being met. This is our job! Our children's job is to learn! Help instill this in our children, our students!

FROM THE OFFICE OF MR. PERLICH, DEAN OF STUDENTS
STUDENT ATTENDANCE:
State law requires students to attend school for 180 days. When a student misses 7 days of school, the state sees this as "Chronic Absenteeism." The school corporation policy states that when a student misses seven days, a parent meeting will take place to sign an attendance contract. At this time, administration shares the next steps if more days are missed. Doctor, dentist, and counseling notes are verified absences that the school needs in order to support families with this attendance law. Please help us to ensure your children are in school! We do understand that things happen such as deaths in the family or family emergencies, but do understand that students must make up the missed work.
SAFETY DRILLS:
Each month our school participates in safety drills. The month of November included a fire, tornado and shelter in place drill. We practice these drills to ensure that in case of a real emergency, our students and staff are prepared and know what to do to stay safe. The month of December will involve a fire drill and lockdown. Please reach out to the school if you have any questions regarding the different types of drills.

Counseling Corner with Miss Headley:
In the month of November communication has been the focus for the counseling lessons. We have been discussing both communication bloopers and boosters as well as addressing communication do’s and don’ts. We have also discussed the different ways that people communicate among one another both verbally and non-verbally. Your student(s) has either participated in or practiced effective ways to engage with others during these lessons.
In December, the counseling lessons will focus on health/wellness and safety. This will go alongside the Terry Hall presentation in the month of December. The counseling lessons will focus on “what to do if a stranger approaches," review of positive and negative touches as we continue to have some rough play at recess and our students' overall health and wellness.
Nurses Corner:
It is illness season! Continue to remind your children to cover their mouths, keep their hands away from their faces and wash, wash, wash those hands!!!!
