Protocol to Ensure a Safe & Enjoyable Valentine's Day for All!
Sharing the LOVE!
It’s almost Valentine's Day and our Early Act Club members have an idea to share... "you can make a kid feel happy by sending a valentine for kids in St. Jude hospital here! Send a virtual Valentine's card to patients - St. Jude Children's Research Hospital."
Random Acts of Kindness Week
A special message from Mr. Swanson...
It is that time of year again where we “plant” our Kindness Tree! As part of our ongoing emphasis on fostering a positive school environment we will be celebrating and promoting Random Acts of Kindness Week here at Nixon School from February 14th through February 18th, by adding leaves to our Kindness Tree for each act of kindness!
A random act of kindness is a simple act which brightens someone’s day. It can be something significant, like donating items to a charity, or something smaller, like holding a door open for someone or even smiling and saying hello. It can be planned in advance or happen on the spur of the moment.
Our schedule for the week is below. You’ll see that every day has a theme followed by suggestions of random acts of kindness students can do.
Here’s how you can help at home: Let your child see you being kind to someone else. Encourage them to be kind to you, their loved ones, friends and classmates. Point out kind acts you see others perform in real life, and in books or movies. Discuss the schedule below with your child.
We’ll be writing/drawing our acts of kindness on paper leaves, then hanging them on our Kindness Tree. Students will get to witness their kindness bloom!
Help us spread kindness this week and always!
With Kindness,
Mr. Erik Swanson

Kindergarten Registration is Now OPEN!
Roxbury Township Public Schools, a K-12 school district preparing the children of today for tomorrow, has set its in-person Kindergarten registration dates for the 2022/2023 school year. Children must be five years old on or before October 1, 2022 to participate. Click here for more information regarding Roxbury's Entrance Age Policy (P5112). Roxbury Township Public Schools offers a full-day kindergarten program designed to develop knowledge and skills in the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive areas. Our goal is to help children develop skills and strategies that will help them learn and establish a foundation for lifelong success in education. The program allows more time for students to address curriculum in depth and allows teachers to provide additional activities in learning.
To register for Kindergarten, parents will need to complete the online pre-registration process and begin uploading the required documents for Kindergarten. For a complete list of what to do and what to bring, visit www.roxbury.org/KindergartenRegistration.
Online registration for Kindergarten is now open. Parents are required to register their child at their home school. If the home school is unknown, please contact the Transportation Department at 973-584-6756 and based on your address, they can let you know what school your child should be attending.
