Jarrell ISD Monday Memo
October 16, 2023
Monday Memo
October is Bullying Prevention Month. Bullying is a serious issue that affects people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. It is a form of aggressive behavior intended to cause the victim harm, distress, or humiliation. Bullying includes physical, verbal, and emotional abuse, and it can happen in person or online. The effects of bullying can be devastating and cause long-lasting health issues, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and even suicide.
Remember you are not alone and there are people who care about you and want to help. If you or someone you know is being bullied, speaking out and seeking help is essential. Jarrell ISD has resources available to students, including school counselors, licensed mental health counselors, and an anonymous alert app. When students use the app or the form on our website, they can anonymously report bullying and other concerning behavior.
Bullying is unacceptable, and all students deserve to be safe in school, online, and in our community. Jarrell ISD staff, students, community members, and organizations must work together to prevent and address bullying. On Wednesday, October 18th, the district will participate in Unity Day. Pacer's National Bullying Prevention Center created the day as a call to action by wearing orange to show unity and support bullying prevention.
Together, we can create a world where everyone is treated with kindness, respect, and dignity, and bullying is no longer tolerated. Join us in wearing orange on Wednesday!
