Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are excited at the prospect of a better future. At Venetia Valley, we are continuing our efforts at engaging your children in high quality, academically appropriate and meaningful learning.
We recognize we cannot accomplish this task without your support. As you all know, education begins at home and the partnership you build with us will strengthen our collective efforts at ensuring your children receive a viable educational experience. Let's have a great spring semester!

Events that Happen Every Week during the Month
- Tuesdays - Food Pantry from 3:15 - 4:30 PM in front of the school
- Wednesdays - Citizenship Classes in the MPR from 5 - 7 PM
- Wednesdays are Early Release Days. Students are dismissed at 1:15 PM for Special Day Classes (SDC), 1:35 PM for TK/Kindergarten, 1:40 PM for Middle School and 1:45 PM for 1st - 5th Grade.

Hello Venetia Valley Families,
Welcome to a new year, 2023!
Come and enjoy our ELAC meeting (English Learner Advisory Committee) on 2/16/2023, from 9:30- 11:00 am. Come and enjoy a morning with lots of information regarding what ELAC is.
Also, we will have more information about what are the “A-G” requirements for high school.
Allen Sport Dominican Program. For students in the 6th-8th grade, will be continued on 1/30/2023; if you signed up for the program this past semester, you do NOT need to sign up again. For registration, come into the office or Family Center for more information.
COVI-19 /FLU
Parents, If your child was vaccinated in November, you can come into the school office and pick up the covid-19/flu vaccine card.
Office hours are Monday- Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.

Family Center Update
Hello Dear Venetia Valley Families,
The Family Center wishes you a happy new year. We hope this year is full of health, joy, and abundance.
Parents and guardians, please ensure our students are here and ready to learn daily. Attendance is crucial; the effects are always negative when they miss many school days. Below are tips on how you can help your child succeed in school:

5th-grade families,
A week before the Walker Creek Trip, we will send a letter with all details regarding the trip. If you have not paid for your trip, there is still time to bring in money; please stop by the Family Center.
8th-grade Parents/Guardians,
You must REGISTER your student in the San Rafael High Schools High School District.
Online registration is highly recommended (www.srcs.org/enrollment).
In-person registration events will be at the following locations from 2-6 PM:
Jan. 11, 2023 - Bahia Vista
Jan. 24 & 31, 2023 - District Office
Jan. 25, 2023 - Laurel Dell
Feb. 1, 2023 - Venetia Valley

Upcoming Events:
Food Bank distribution happens every Tuesday from 3:15 pm - 4:15 pm
Families, remember that bags of food are handed out every Tuesday in front of the school. Feel free to stop by if you need this service.
Matrix Parent Network- Every Wednesday from 9 am - 11 am - FC.
Starting 1/11/23, a representative from Matrix will support families with any questions they may have regarding Special Education, EIPs, and much more.
Citizenship Classes- Every Wednesday from 5 pm to 7 pm- Cafeteria
Know the citizenship process, study for the exam, receive help with your N-450 form, and much more. For questions, please call the family center.
School Site Council - Thursday, Jan. 12, from 4:30 - 5:30 pm in the Family Center
This elected body's common goal and focus is to support student success. The SSC does this by developing and monitoring the implementation of the school’s plan, known as the Single Plan for Student Achievement.
Coffee & Conversation- Thursday, Jan. 12, from 6 pm to 7:30 am in Family Center
Families, join us for informative monthly presentations, essential school updates, and an opportunity to voice any questions, comments, and/or concerns. Also, learn about services or events happening in our community. This month's topic is Parent Square and Aeries Workshop.
Community Closet- Friday, Jan. 13, from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm in the Family Center
Comm. Dvlp. Agency Housing Workshop- Tuesday, Jan. 17th at 6 pm in MPR
We’ll Discuss Housing Basics – What is Affordable Housing?, Housing Assistance – What resources are available? Energy Efficiency – How to Save Money! Food, Childcare, and Stipends are Available. The translation is Available for English Speakers.
Let’s Talk Parent Workshop- Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 5:30 pm in the MPR.
Parents and Guardians, join us to learn and understand substance abuse in Marin County and how it is affecting our kids. We will also learn strategies to prevent our children from using these substances. We will have childcare and snacks.
PTA General Meeting- Thursday, Jan. 26, from 5 pm to 6 pm - Cafeteria

Safe Routes Walk to School Day- Wed, Feb. 1, from 8 am - 8:45 am
Parents, please encourage your students to Walk, Bike, or Skate to School on this day. Make sure students stop by the prize table.
Community Fridge- Bay Marin Church parking lot at 150 N. San Pedro Road
The Community Fridge is open 24/7 for families to come and grab what they need! If you wish to donate any food, this is also a place where you can donate by placing your food in the community fridge.
