Clio High School Clubs
As many of you are already aware, CHS offers a wide array of student clubs and organizations. However, if your student isn't already involved in one of these activities or in athletics, perhaps they'll discover a new and exciting interest among the opportunities listed below. We encourage you to explore these options with your student and consider the benefits of getting involved in extracurricular activities to enrich their high school experience.
Clio Community Education
Clio Community Education is offering exciting classes to the community, which offer a wonderful blend of physical activity and creative expression! Please consider joining our classes by registering here.
Please complete the Spring Community Education Interest Survey, linked here, to express your interest for programs that could be offered moving forward.
Care and Concern Form
Students may report any concerns they have for themselves or others via a Care and Concern form. These forms are available in the main and counseling offices and are directed to councilors or administration. Students can also complete this form online. The forms are linked on the CHS Website as shown to the left.
Counseling Corner
October is College Application Month! If your student needs any help with college applications, now is the time to schedule an appointment with their counselor. Last names that start with A-K will work with Mrs. Hall (jhall@clioschools.org) and last names L-Z will work with Mrs. Minore (kminore@clioschools.org). Below you will see the list of state colleges that have no application fees and the list of those who are waiving their fees just for the month of October. If you are considering any of those who are waiving their fees, now is the time to apply!
Traver Talk
I hope this message finds you well. As we recently completed our count day on October 4th, I wanted to provide you with some important information regarding attendance and its impact on our school. Count day is a crucial day for us as it directly correlates to the funding our school receives from the state government. It's essential that we accurately track attendance on this day to ensure that we receive the necessary resources to provide the best education for our students.
As a reminder, the following types of absences count toward a student's absence totals: UX (unexcused), EX (excused), RE (released early), and LT (late tardy). However, there are absences that do not count toward absence totals: FT (field trip), M (medical - requires a doctor’s note), and B (bereavement - requires documentation).
It's important for all parents and students to understand that student absence totals per class will determine our exam policy come January when students complete their Semester 1 Exams. Our policy stipulates that students who have 10 or more absences in any given hour must earn a score of 78% or higher on the final exam in order to pass the course.
Another takeaway in the chart above indicates that the lowest attendance comes in 1st hour. In first hour we have had 360 students come in late to date. Oftentimes these students also have in hand a coffee or drink from a fast food trip in their morning commute. As a reminder students may not come in late and be allowed to go to class with external food or drink. This is a policy our front office staff reminds students of on a daily basis. As we encourage all parents to work with us in promoting good attendance habits among our students please help us to communicate the importance of timeliness and priorities with them. If you are in need of assistance in transportation bussing is available for all students in-district. Thank you for your continued support in ensuring the success of our students. Together, we can help them achieve their attendance and academic goals!

Happy October! As the leaves change colors and the weather starts to cool, I wanted to take a moment to share some updates from the High School.
First and foremost, I would like to commend our incredible students for their hard work and dedication, in starting this school year so strongly! You have created so much positive momentum within the building. Keep pushing forward and remember that hard work always pays off in the end!
October brings many opportunities for students. Our annual Zombie Walk, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, is on October 14th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Clio Park. We will be completing STAR Testing for grades 9-12 on Tuesday, October 17th (Reading) and Thursday, October 19th (Math) to gather Fall data to monitor student progress in those two content areas.
Parents, please make sure to save the dates for Parent/Teacher Conferences. The dates and times are as follows:
Tuesday, October 24th: 3:30 - 5:30 pm
Thursday, October 26th: 12:00 - 3: 00 pm and 4:00 - 7:00 pm
High School Conferences are a "Drop-In" format, where parents show up during the scheduled times and visit classroom teachers in a non-scheduled, next-in-line, format. I encourage you to try to attend conferences. The opportunity to connect with your student's teachers is valuable and creates a necessary communication link to ensure student success. I look forward to seeing you!
As we hit the halfway point in our semester, please make sure to check your student's grades in Synergy. Send emails to teachers to stay up to date with missing assignments and upcoming assessments..........remember.........as parents, we ALL hate surprises. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Join the Mustang Charge!
Thank you.
