SBAC State Testing
Three weeks down and two to go! Next week, students will begin with the math performance task portion of state testing during their math classes. After next week, 7th-grade testing will be complete. The following week, 8th graders will complete the Science CAST test and wrap up state testing.
State testing will continue next week with the English-Language Arts Performance Task on Wednesday, May 3rd, and Thursday, May 4th. Testing will run through Thursday, May 25th. All students are assessed in English-Language Arts and Mathematics. 8th-grade grade students will also take the California Science Test. Students will take one assessment per week and will test with their teacher. For example, students will complete both English-Language Arts assessments with their English teacher, during their regular class period.
During testing, we ask that families try to schedule appointments outside of the school day as much as possible. We hope having the calendar in advance will help in your planning. Included in this newsletter you will find both the testing calendar and testing bell schedule. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Ozuna at kozuna@orangeusd.org.
Thank you for your support!

Comanches Abroad 2024-5 Countries in 12 Days!
Future Comanches!
Every summer I take a group of Canyon students on an international adventure. I LOVE talking about this stuff! International travel is a life-changing opportunity, and just like our previous trips, I can't wait to see the impact it has on our students individually and as a whole. Our July 2024 student trip is available to current 8th graders since it will take place after their freshmen year. We will be visiting 5 countries in 12 days! We will tour Berlin (Germany), Prague (Czech Republic), Krakow (Poland), Budapest (Hungary), AND Vienna (Austria).
These are some of the most beautiful cities in the world and this will be an incredible opportunity to experience culture and history up close! I am already excited to go. I won't have another Comanches Abroad Info Night until September, but if you would like to see more or secure a spot now to keep costs down, click the link below. Monthly payments are only $332/month if enrolled by 5/31! You can see all the details and even enroll online through this link. Please email me if you have any questions.
Have a great weekend!

Tutorial Menu for May 16th
Students who are stamped by their teacher must attend that tutorial session. If stamped by multiple teachers, the subject that has priority that day takes precedence.
Students who have C grades or better, are not stamped by a teacher, and do not have any detention stamps, can go to PE or the lunch benches to complete homework. It is the student's responsibility to check their grades prior to Tutorial.
Students have a 5-minute passing period to get to their tutorial room. Once students arrive at their Tutorial destination, they stay there for the entire 30 minutes. Please use the menu below to make a plan for this week!
