Welcome Back!

Together with our teachers, staff and Assistant Principal, Karen Klein, we want to welcome our students and school community back to Gold Academy. I hope all of our families had a fun summer where great experiences were had and lasting memories made. It has been amazing to see our previous kindergarteners and first graders walk into the building and know what to do. They have grown so much!

Our dynamic and committed teachers have participated in professional development this summer and have been working hard in planning their upcoming lessons, and getting our classrooms ready. I am confident that together we will have a productive and enriching 2023-2024 school year!

I look forward to meeting all of our families, community members and working with all of you this academic year.

Below we have teachers new to Gold Academy! Some have come from other buildings in the district, some are new to the teaching profession, and some have changed positions here in the building! Welcome to our new faces and congratulations on new positions!

We will have a PTO meeting on Wednesday, August 9th at 5:00 p.m. Please enter through the main door on Mann Road.

Popcorn Friday is back again this year! Due to the increase in cost of popcorn, bags, oil, and salt, the bag of delicious popcorn will now sell for $1.00/bag. All proceeds will benefit student and staff needs in the building. Our first popcorn Friday will be August 11th!

Join us for dinner on Tuesday, August 29th! Staff members will be there serving dinner from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Exciting news for the 2023 - 2024 school year! Gold Academy has their own PTO with all new board members! These members are very excited to get started and have some really fun things planned for this year!

In order to fund all of these things, we will kick off our fundraising effort to raise some money!

The theme is - "Don't Monkey Around, Put Your Neck On The Line, Support Gold PTO, Have A Roaring Good Time"! Students can bring in $1.00 to have either a monkey, giraffe, or lion with their name on it under their room's animal.

The top class in each grade level will receive an ice cream sandwich party!

I am excited to announce that we will be collecting pop tabs throughout the year that will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.

Collected pop tabs are recycled, generating much-needed funds to support the Ronald McDonald House and thousands of families that they serve each year. This is a great way to introduce philanthropy to young people, especially in a school environment!

Thanks to generous school children, families, businesses, clubs, and churches, over one billion pop tabs have been donated since the program's inception in 1995, generating tens of thousands of dollars in pop tab revenue for the House!

The Gold Academy will be using the Second Step to work on social-emotional learning!

The Second Step program teaches skills in the following four areas:

1. Skills for Learning: Children gain skills to help them be better learners, including how to focus their attention, listen carefully, and ask for help.

2. Empathy: Children learn to identify and understand their own and others’ feelings. Children also learn how to show care for others.

3. Emotion Management: Children learn how to calm down when they have strong feelings, such as worry or anger.

4. Friendship Skills and Problem Solving: Children learn how to make and keep friends and to solve problems with others in a positive way.
