Schnell School November Newsletter
Dear Schnell Families,
We are the depth of the fall season. It is surely a beautiful time of year seeing the beauty of leaves. I can't wait to see a little snow.
We just completed our first trimester, and we are on the road to our second trimester. Our students work hard to show their academic potential in reading, writing, science, social studies, and math. In the last two days, many students went to the book fair to purchase their favorite book. I am so happy that we have this fantastic and precious book fair which is essential for our school culture.
We are a week away to our Thanksgiving break, which is a precious moment for everyone to spend time with our family, friends, and pets. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Social Emotional Learning with Sami’s Circuit
Since September, teachers have implemented Sami’s circuit, an SEL program, into their weekly routine. Teachers received a presentation by Sami on October 29th to understand the benefit of his program. Throughout his lessons, Sami highly focuses on the importance of honesty, kindness, courage, expression, and positivity. We had a zoom Sami’s Circuit Assembly on Tuesday, November 2nd, and our students attentively listened and were engaged. Sami will be coming to our campus on December 17th for an entire day of social-emotional learning activities.
Trunk or Treat Event
We had a very successful Trunk or Treat on October 29th. Many of our children with their parents attended the event. Children and their parents wore a fun and creative costumes. We sold pizza and drinks. We had many parent volunteers who decorated their cars and passed out candies. Many parents were very thankful that we made this event happened. Lastly, this event occurred with the total support from PTC and parent volunteers.
3rd Graders releasing the Butterflies with Kindergartens
Three weeks ago, we had a very special moment at Schnell. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and the pupa who were in the small container became adults. 3rd Graders from Ms. Johnson’s class carefully released the butterflies with Ms. Starr Kindergarteners. It was a precious moment seeing the butterflies flying in the depth of our beautiful Gold Country environment.
Schnell Monday Morning STRETCH and Virtue Card Reading
As part of the school culture, Schnell teachers led a short exercise to awaken the child's mind and be prepared for learning. Our student council read the Pledge of Allegiance in English and Spanish. Mr. Baker or a teacher will be reading the virtue card of the month. The virtue card for November is "Thankfulness." We want our students to learn to be grateful for what they have. Moreover, it is to appreciate the little things that occur around us every day. Additionally, we want our students to thank each other when someone makes a kind gesture toward them.
