NOVEMBER 2022
MADISON CALENDAR
Thank you, Veterans!
Madison Elementary would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to our Veterans for their service. In recognition of Veteran's Day, our choir, led by Mr. Bolduc, will be singing the Star Spangled Banner in our main foyer so we can all take a moment to pause and reflect on what others have sacrificed for our freedoms.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
- ATTENDANCE [continued reminder] - Please take a moment to review our attendance policy HERE on pages 15-16 (including our vacation policy). In order to ensure we're helping your students reach their full potential, school attendance is vital. Help us help your Cardinal by ensuring they get to school (except when they're sick!) and on time (in seat by 9:20 a.m.)
- This Friday (Nov. 11) is MiSmAtCh Day for students in grades K, 2, and 3! (more info below under "student recognition")
- Ordering Pictures - we sent home a paper with picture ordering information last week. Most people also received an email. To order pictures, go to jostenpix.com (event code FE258222). You will also need your student's STN number, which were included on the information sheet sent home last week and are also available in PowerSchool.
- Weather Changes and Recess - As we head into colder months, it is important to note that students generally go outside to recess unless the windchill drops below 20 degrees. Please make sure your student comes to school prepared for outdoor recess with a coat, hat, and gloves. If you are unable to get a coat, hat, or gloves at this time, please contact us.
UPCOMING EVENTS
November 14 - 22 - Madison Thanksgiving Food Drive
At Madison, developing empathy for others and giving back to our community is of utmost importance #empathypillar. During this season of thanks, we will be holding a school-wide food drive (non-perishable items) to support those in our community who are not as fortunate and may be struggling to feed their families. All items will be taken to Combined Community Services to stock Dane's Family Food Pantry on November 22.
Mrs. Hoffmann is also looking for a parent volunteer who can help with food collection from classrooms (mornings of November 14-18, 21-22) and volunteers who can help take food over to Combined Community Services before 4 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22nd. If you are available and interested, please email Mrs. Hoffmann at fhoffmann@warsawschools.org. Thank you!
November 18 - Picture Day Retakes
November 23-25 - Thanksgiving Break!
We will be off for Thanksgiving Break (no school) on Wednesday, November 23, Thursday, November 24, and Friday, November 25. In this season of thanks, we are so thankful for each and every member of our entire #MadisonFamily.
If you know a family in need this holiday season, Dane's Family Food Pantry through Warsaw's Combined Community Services (where we will be donating our food drive items!) is open from 9-4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at Combined Community Services, 1195 Mariners Drive

Cardinal Kindness Coupon Winners
Beginning Friday, September 16th, we kicked off our "Cardinal Friday Rallies" - a whole-school gathering in the gym, whereby we will recognize students who win our "Cardinal Kindness Coupon" drawing for the week, review expectations (as needed!), and generally celebrate together. As a reminder, our "Cardinal Kindness Coupons" are a new initiative this year to celebrate student kindness. When a student earns a "Cardinal Kindness Coupon" for being caught in the act of being kind, the student places their coupon in a grade-level bucket in the cafeteria. Students' names are drawn each week, and the reward for our winners varies.
This past week, the following students won our "Kindness Coupon" raffle for the week:
Brogan Parker
Zerahiah Whetstone
Johnny Shoue
Mymphis Slone
Paisley Jarrell
Ashton Hall
Cathryn Miller
Jared Gutierrez Aca
George Reichenbach
Max Lincoln
Norah Hendrikse
Ivan Nunez
Isaac Yates
We are also so proud of our cardinal kindness winners and those who received Cardinal Kindness Coupons this past week whose names weren't drawn! Students will have a chance to win our kindness drawing each Friday. Please continue to help us by encouraging your cardinal to continue to show others acts of kindness! #KindnessAlways
To date, students have received over 400 Cardinal Kindness Coupons at Madison Elementary since the beginning of the school year.
FRIDAY RALLY WINNERS - Each week, the grade level(s) that exit the quickest and quietest and generally exhibit the best behavior/choices during our whole-school rally to set an example for others have the opportunity to win a privilege for the following Friday. This past week, our kindergarten, second, and third grade earned "MisMaTcH" for this Friday, November 11th.
STEM CORNER
3rd Grade Spotlight
There is nothing simple about 3rd Grade science! Students explore, design, sketch, and build both simple and compound machines that demonstrate the use of forces. They used those skills to solve a real world problem: design a machine to save a tiger trapped in the zoo!
4th Grade Spotlight
4th grade is shocking! Students learned about magnetism and electricity through circuit designs. In this picture, they are inquiring if the circuit they built will pick up the staples with or without the screw. What an attractive unit!
