We refreshed our learning about the parts of the brain and went on to learn more about neurons and neuroplasticity. Did you know that your brain has 100 BILLION neurons?! (See the video below for an overview.)

Knowing that we can change our brains, we decided to practice kindness and strengthen our ability to choose kind. Kindness is a choice to act for the good of others. It requires us to use our pre-frontal cortex. Choosing kindness is a mindful, intentional action not a reactive or passive one. We worked on building and strengthening neural networks for kindness, compassion and empathy by sharing compliments with each other. The more we practice acts of kindness, the more likely we are to recognize and act to help others in need.

We held our first middle school night at Axson on Thursday evening. Parents and students were able to hear from and talk to representatives from magnet schools.
