December 2023
A Note From the Director/Principal:
December is a very busy month at LSP with dress-up days, holiday programs, and special guests visiting! There's something truly magical about seeing young children excited for the holidays. Teachers and students have worked hard to decorate the building, and we are excited to share the holiday spirit with families. Be sure to check the dates on this newsletter, so your family doesn't miss out on all the holiday fun!
2 Hour Delays and Closings
If the Fayette County School Corporation (FCSC) delays, there will be NO AM preschool sessions. Full day Head Start students will be picked up on the bus two hours later than their normal morning pick-up time. Full day Head Start students can be dropped off at 9:50a.m. if they do not ride the bus. Ms. Billie's full day classroom can also be dropped off at 9:50a.m. like normal and class will begin at 10:00a.m. If FCSC were to close, then there will be NO PRESCHOOL sessions for the day.
Fayette County Emergency Management
On Monday, December 4th, the Fayette County Emergency Management team will be installing a severe weather siren. They will be testing it. Residents in Connersville and Fayette County should ignore the sirens as it is tested on Monday and Tuesday. Once testing is complete, a message will be sent out stating testing is completed, on the Emergency Management Facebook Page. In the event of actual emergency residents should check out the Fayette County Emergency Management Facebook page at (https://www.facebook.com/FayetteEmergencyManagement) for weather related information and instructions......Information provided by Wade Walling- Fayette County Emergency Management, Director.
Recess/Outdoor Learning
Please be sure to send students with a coat, hat, and gloves. We will be going outside for recess and/or outdoor learning as long as the temperature is above freezing.
Safety, Safety, Safety
Don't be alarmed if you notice police presence at LSP! The Connersville Police Department and the Fayette County Sherriff's Department regularly visit to make sure our students and staff are safe. If there ever is an emergency, families will be notified via Powerschool Messenger, ClassDojo, and Social Media (Facebook/Twitter). If your phone number changes for any reason, please notify the office so we can update our system!
Bookmobile/Fayette County Public Library
This year we have partnered with the Fayette County Public Library. The bookmobile will be visiting LSP on Thursday, December 7th. The Fayette County Public Library will also be reading and doing crafts with our classrooms......Did you know Fayette County Public Library has family events? Be sure to check out their calendar HERE.
Food Pantry/Clothing Closet Donations
The Food Pantry and Clothing Closet at LSP is open to the public 1-2 times per month. The next opening will be Thursday, December 14th, 4:00-6:00pm. We are currently taking donations of gently used clothing for our closet. If you would like to donate, please drop off clothing in the office, M-F, 7:30am-4:00pm.

Theme 2023-2024: Welcome to the Zoo!
Mission: Provide comprehensive and high quality education in an inclusive social setting by professional, competent, and compassionate staff. Promote the growth and development of children and families while improving their quality of life in an ever changing society.
Front Door Security
Safety is always our number one priority! In order to keep our front lobby more secure, the front doors will ONLY be unlocked from 7:50-8:15a.m. A buzzer/intercom system has been installed on the right hand side of the front doors. If the front doors are locked, just push the green button and someone from the office will be right with you. The left door will then be unlocked so you can enter the lobby.
Safety Protocol
Sick Procedure
Contagious rashes and other cold like symptoms are also in peak season. LSP is working diligently to make sure extra sanitation and safety precautions are taking place. Please review the sick procedure below. If you have any questions, please give us a call.
Head Lice
-If live lice are found on a student, then that student will be sent home. The student may not return until the nurse confirms there are no more live lice.
-The Fayette County Health Department does give away lice treatment for FREE. This could be a resource for families.
