Principal's Pen

Hello HDES families,

Winter has arrived and our playgrounds are covered in snow. Winter in Maine is a beautiful time. Students are excited to get outside to play and build in the snow, yet when students aren't dressed appropriately, it can be difficult. We want children outside as much as possible, so if your child needs cold weather gear, please let us know. We have a very generous and thoughtful community, so there are ways for us to get children what they need.

December is going to be a busy month! We will work to keep our school schedules as routine as possible during the holiday season, as we know children do best with routine. We do have a few things on the calendar though...fifth graders will be going to the Gulf of Maine Institute, Kindergarten will go to Woodlands for a concert and a Family Code Night is scheduled. More information will be sent out soon about these fun events.

Report cards will be sent home on Monday, December 10th. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's report, please contact his/her teacher. We are always willing to meet with you if you have questions or concerns about your child's school programming.

You're Invited to Family Coding Night!

The Hall-Dale Middle School Tech Ambassadors welcome you to our second annual Family Coding Night! In this one hour session you and your children will learn the basics of coding using puzzles and games from Code.org. This event is geared towards students in grades K-5. Reminder to Drop Off/Pick Up Parents

Drivers should not be parking in the drop off circle unless you are in a parking spot. There has been congestion in the circle due to people parking and walking students in or parking and leaving the car to pick up students.

Nutrition News

Effective November 26, 2018, RSU #2 is returning to the lunch procedure that was previously in practice. That means all students who owe $10 will now receive a Wowbutter and jelly sandwich and a milk instead of the full meal until the full debt is paid.

Free/Reduced applications are available. If parents would like to fill one out or revise the previous ones, please contact the office. These forms are confidential. Parents are welcome to email or send them directly to Chrissy Michaud, RSU#2 Food Service Director at cmichaud@kidsrsu.org . Chrissy is willing to assist anyone with the form if necessary.

Parents are encouraged to sign up for account access at myschoolbucks.com as this allows parents to see what their child eats, check the money balance, add money to the account (if parents wish), and set up alerts as to when the account gets low on funds.

Our HDES lunch staff love the children and treat them with the upmost respect and confidentiality when talking to them about their lunch account.
