BSD Staff Updates
2021-22 Issue #10: Wednesday, February 9, 2022

Welcome back!
Watch out for internet scams!
A friendly reminder from our IT department!
- Any time you are asked via email to purchase gift cards, use extra caution - it is likely a scam.
- Check the actual "From" address of the email making the request. If in doubt, check directly with the person making the request through another means.
- We are not allowed to use gift cards (cash equivalent) as gifts or prizes (I believe this is referenced in one of our policies but I could not find it when I looked)
Important update about Gaggle Teletherapy
Gaggle is no longer enrolling new students. Gaggle was unable to meet the demand for teletherapy for the District so we are switching to a NEW therapy service for students called Hazel Health.
- Students and staff currently using Gaggle can stick with their counselors.
- Gaggle is still available for staff to enroll.
We do not yet have an MOU in place with Hazel Health so they are not currently accepting new applications.
Gaggle graphics have been removed from all websites and we will be updating families in the next BSD Family Update.
We will notify you all as soon as we can start promoting Hazel Health to families and students.
Do you know someone who might want to volunteer?
Volunteers needed to help our Health Services Team do student vision & hearing screenings. If you know someone who might be interested, please have them complete our prospective volunteer survey.
Note: This week's BHS varsity football game is tonight (Thursday) - not Friday!

New before- and after-school childcare offers 50% discount for BSD staff
- Right At School will be located at Armin Jahr Elementary and West Hills STEM Academy.
- There are bus routes to transport students from schools without childcare to our schools with childcare on site. Please visit our website for details.
Teachers: Is your Google Site upated?
Your Google sites (public-facing for parent/guardian communication) should be created/updated! If grade bands share a Google site that is A-OK, as long as the content is updated!
New teachers: When your new site is complete, please click here to submit your URL so we can link your site to your school web page! There are great tips and instructional videos on BSDTeach.
All teachers: please check to make sure your site is viewable to non-BSD viewers!
1. Open the editable site.
2. Click on the "plus head" icon.
3. Change the access settings for published site (below the "General Access" header) to "public".
4. Click "done."
5. Click on the link icon and copy the link.
6. Open an incognito window and paste the link in the URL bar to verify that it can be seen by people outside the district. Check any embedded documents/links/etc to ensure they can be seen by everyone.
All BSD staff are welcome to create a Google site - you don't have to be a teacher (but teachers are required to have one set up to communicate with students' families).
Teachers! Looking for graphics for your Google site/Classroom?
Download graphics from the District Communication Resources folder in various sizes and in English and Spanish!
Annual Back-to-school Check-in process (ABCs)
The ABC process must be completed for all students in the district - including both previously enrolled as well as newly registered students.

Did you know the Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) Coalition (one of the five networks of Kitsap Strong) created a webpage with an interactive map of resources for transportation, health care, food banks, clothing, free wifi, and other services? Check it out (and share!)
