READ ACROSS AMERICA WEEK

We have kicked off our Read Across America Week. Below is a graphic that shows what books are featured and what our dress up days are. This week is all about celebrating reading and the authors/illustrators who bring us joy! Additional reading activities and studies may be provided by the classroom teacher.

Central Elementary's Literacy and Fine Arts Night

Next Thursday, March 9, we will be holding our first ever Central Elementary Literacy and Fine Arts Night! This event will run from 5:30-7:30. All Central Elementary students and families are welcome and invited.

There are a lot of fun things planned for this event:

3rd grade students will be on a rotation for their musical performances
Guest readers in classrooms (police officers, HS students, staff and community members)
Book Basket Prizes
Book Fair in the library
Dessert (Staff made) Silent Auction
Art Gallery and Presentations
Popcorn and water

5th Grade Parents/Guardians : Middle School Orientation

The transition from elementary school to middle school is a significant time for students and parents alike. With that being said, the middle school would like to invite all 5th grade parents/guardians and students to attend a 5th grade parent orientation night on Tuesday, March 21, at 5:30 at the middle school gym. The orientation will last approximately one hour. During this time, information will be shared with you and the building will be open for you and your student to explore. The middle school team is looking forward to seeing you.

Summer School Registration

Summer school packets will be coming home this Friday, March 3, to start enrolling for summer school.

Summer school will look different this year for Central Elementary students. Since Central Elementary is undergoing an HVAC system revamp, we will not be able to host summer school at Central this year. Central Elementary students will have the opportunity to attend summer school either at Beaufort or Prairie Dell. There will be a hard deadline to enroll for summer school. After May 1, we will no longer be accepting summer school enrollments.

Once all forms are in on May 1, we will designate bus routes and determine who will attend based on residency for routes as well as capacity for each building. After May 1, we will communicate out to Central families in regards to their summer school building.

Thanks for understanding and being patient as we work through enrollments and assignments for summer school this year. Although this summer brings a different level of planning and organization, we won't let it damper our excitement around summer learning! Summer School runs from June 5 - June 30.

Central Elementary Cookie Dough Fundraiser Kickoff

Our Central Elementary Cookie Dough Fundraiser kicks off next Tuesday, March 7. We will be sending packets home with our students on Tuesday.

This fundraiser helps us pay for class field trips, student rewards, building assemblies, and other fun initiatives for our students and staff members.

The last official day of the sale is on March 20. Students will have collection/check in days where they will be able to earn keychains for their sales (March 10, March 14, and march 17). The packet and information sheet contains all of the information that you will need for your student(s) to participate in the fundraiser.
