It is hard to believe we are already in the last week of Term 3! This term has been another extremely busy one and has gone by very quickly. The students have had many opportunities to participate in a range of events and learning experiences over the past ten weeks.
Last week, we met many of our new 2017 Kindergarten students and their families at our Kindy Orientation morning. The buddies from Years 4 and 5 were very helpful in getting the children settled and should be commended on their assistance. Our Preschool, Kindergarten and Support Unit students enjoyed their visit by the Kindi Farm and were able to feed and pat some of the different farm animals. Students (and some teachers) learnt about the sugar content of some of the foods we like to eat, and will now be able to make more informed choices about the food they consume. Our Public Speaking finals went very well, with a very high standard of speeches by students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Congratulations to all of the students who competed and well done to the finalists who will progress to the next stage early next term. On Friday, Stage 1 students stepped back in time and attended a Schoolhouse Museum where they learnt what school was like in earlier times.
This week, all students will perform dances they have learnt in their Dance Fever lessons. Parents and friends are invited to watch these performances on Monday afternoon from 2pm. Wednesday will be a very busy day, with the SRC's Crazy Hair Day, the band performing at assembly and the annual Students vs Teachers Netball game. Friday will be the last day for winter PSSA sport, as well as the last day of term.
Please remember that online payments will only be available until 4pm on Friday afternoon, and will not resume until Week 2 of Term 4. If you have any payments for upcoming events owing, please pay these online or at the school office by this Friday.
I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday break and look forward to seeing you all in Term 4. Don't forget to collect some sponsors for the SPARTAN event that will be held in Week 1 of next term! Please note that there is no School Development Day on the first day of Term 4 - all staff and students return on Monday 10th October.
Have a great holiday!

PBL Expected Behaviours
This fortnight's focus behaviours are:
- Use friendly talk
- Forgive and forget
NEW Basketball/Netball Rings
Thank you to our wonderful P&C for purchasing a brand new set of Basketball/Netball rings. The kids are very excited and can hardly wait until they are finished being installed. They should be ready just in time for our Student vs Teachers netball game on Wednesday! Once the rings are installed, a basketball court will be painted (in a different colour to the netball court) so that the students can begin to use them. The new rings will be able to be rotated so that they can be used as either netball rings or basketball rings. This offers greater choice at lunchtime and allows students to develop skills in both sports. Basketball is a popular sport in high school and has options for both boys and girls.
SPARTAN Event - REPEAT
The P&C's major fundraising event for this year will be held on Friday 14th October (the first Friday back in Term 4). All students will have the opportunity to participate in a SPARTAN event. This event will be set up on the school field and will contain inflatable obstacle-style apparatus. Classes will take turns to complete the event and will have a whole lot of fun while doing so! The event will have activities suitable for every age and fitness level, and is designed to get kids active...and dirty! (Please wear old clothes and shoes, and bring a spare set to change into).
The aim of the day is to have fun and raise some money for our school. This week, students will bring home an information note and a sponsorship card. Students are asked to recruit sponsors from family and friends, and collect money for completing the event. Prizes will be awarded to the class and the individual boy and girl who raise the most money. Students should have brought a note home last week - please see the office if you require extra copies.
Dance
There will be no dance lessons this week. In Week 1 of Term 4, both the Senior and Junior Dance Groups will rehearse at lunchtime - there will be no before school practice for the Juniors. Normal lesson times will resume from Week 2.
Safety Around the School - REPEAT
We have recently had visits from the local police, to enforce the parking and road rules around the school. These rules are in place to ensure the safety of our children and members of our school community. Please follow these rules and only park in areas that are designated parking spaces.
The pedestrian crossing at the bottom entrance to the school (Wiggins & Trevelyan Sts) is also becoming increasingly dangerous, with many cars driving at an unsafe speed around the corner. Please be careful if you are crossing at the crossing, and stay vigilant if driving in this street. Several parents are also stopping on the crossing to drop off their children - please do not do this as it is extremely dangerous.
School Uniform
Students have been making a great effort to ensure they wear the correct uniform and it has really improved the look of our school. On our return to school in Term 4, all students should wear the summer school uniform.
Parent 'Tell Them From Me' Surveys - REPEAT
Tell Them From Me Surveys for parents are now open. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. It should only take about 15 minutes or less and is entirely confidential.
Information from this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home and parent/carer views on the school's support of learning and behaviour. This valuable feedback will help our school make practical improvements.
Please complete the survey by visiting https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/zz95f before 21st October.
