We welcome all of our Jaguar families back to the new school year. We are excited to be back and look forward to working with you to make this a fantastic school year! If we can be of any assistance to you, please let us know. The Jaguar Journal will be a monthly newsletter that will be emailed home. Mrs. Platt will be sending email blasts as needed to keep you current with what is happening in between our monthly newsletters.

Once again, we will recognize students with Positive Shout Outs weekly. If a student is demonstrating PRIDE behavior and a staff member recognizes it, they will have their name announced on Fridays and take a group picture that you can find in the monthly newsletter.

We would like to welcome all of our new students and all of our kindergarten students as well!

Our PTO has many activities/events planned this year. CHECK OUT THE DATES BELOW.

• 9/15- Family Paint Night 9/23 will be the rain date.

• 9/20- PTO Meeting @ 6 PM at Jefferson or virtually through Google Meet. Free childcare is also available at the building.

• 9/28 - Jaguar Jog fundraising begins

• The PTO will be selling popcorn every Friday for $1 a box. If your child is interested in ordering popcorn, please send the payment in with them each Friday, and they will place an order with their teacher.

Parents/Guardians of Current Second Grade Students:

The School of Innovation Admissions and Lottery Process is beginning for current second grade students who will be third graders in the Fall of 2023.

Please review the School of Innovation Admissions and Lottery Process Information Document for information about the admissions process, testing, gifted identification, the lottery process and timelines. The admissions process timelines are very important. The document outlines the steps to follow for gifted identification and the lottery application process for the School of Innovation.

If you still have questions after reviewing the admissions and lottery process document, you are welcome to join a School of Innovation Admissions and Lottery Process Parent Information Night via Google Meet on Wednesday, October 13, 2022 from 6 - 7 p.m. via Google Meet. Here is the link to the meeting: SOI Parent Information Night. The link will not be active until the date and time of the meeting.

District and school personnel will review the process and answer questions that you may have.

We are so excited to welcome back Miss Kerry Greene our School Based Crossroads Provider at Thomas Jefferson. She will be in the building on Monday mornings and every Tuesday and Thursday. If you do not want your child to interact with Crossroads, please complete and turn in the form linked below.

The link will also provide you with more information regarding the services provided.

Please notify the office of any dismissal changes before 2 pm daily. This allows the office staff time to communicate these changes to the teacher in time for dismissal.

When picking up your child during the day from the clinic or for an appointment, you will need to present a current driver's license or a current Ohio State ID. We cannot release a student without the proper identification.

Screenings

Hearing and vision screenings will be conducted on all Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd and 5th graders at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School on Friday, September 9th. If you would like to opt your student out of the free screening, please notify the school nurse, Megan Kuhlman RN, BSN, LSN, CMSRN, no later than Thursday, September 8th via email at megan.kuhlman@weschools.org.

Immunization Requirements for School Attendance

As with all immunization requirements, students who do not provide documentation of these immunizations are subject to exclusion from school unless proper documentation is submitted to the school in accordance with Ohio Statute 3313.671, which allows for parents or guardians to object to the immunizations--for good cause.
