Alum Spotlight: Amanda Galewski
From Cudahy Graduate to Trailblazing Tradeswoman: Amanda Galewski's Remarkable Journey
Amanda Galweski is the embodiment of what it means to be a Cudahy graduate. She graduated in 2020 and as the world was closing down, her future was opening up to boundless possibilities.
Guided by her father, a skilled woodworker, Amanda enrolled in Woods 1-4 during her time at Cudahy High School. She initially thought she would pursue a career in carpentry and cabinetry work because she had a deep love for building and creating - and she was good at it. She also took Engineering 1-3 and discovered her aptitude for the Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses that Cudahy High School had to offer. However, it was during her senior year that her life’s trajectory took a turn.
What's New in Cudahy Schools
Cudahy Welcomes Back Elementary School Band and Orchestra Classes
We are thrilled to announce the return of beginner band and orchestra classes to our elementary schools this year! Led by the talented Mr. Kevin Stewart for orchestra and Ms. Megan Steer for band, we've witnessed an incredible surge in interest and the arrival of numerous enthusiastic young musicians this fall.
Five Cudahy Middle School Students Learn Drones at Carroll University
Five talented CMS students have earned an opportunity to participate in the GT Take Flight: Drone Academy at Carroll University. They would not have this opportunity without the efforts of Ms. Hannah Coburn, who secured the grant through CESA.
During their first visit to the academy, these students delved into the fascinating world of drones. They got hands-on experience, taking to the football field to pilot their own drones. This, however, is just the beginning of their journey.
Over the course of the academy, these students will not only learn about drones, but also construct and navigate their very own drones. Stay tuned for more updates on their progress in this cutting-edge program.
Cudahy Creates Career and College Pathways for Students Going into Trades
ADAMM and Ewald Motor Group Visit Mr. Bickett's Autos Class, Discuss Job Opportunities
ADAMM and Ewald Motor Group came to talk to Mr. Bickett's, CHS Autos Teacher, classroom about jobs in the auto industry. They made a very generous tool donation and will be interviewing a few of our students in the upcoming weeks for apprenticeships and internships.
Students Attend MATC's Heavy Metals Tour, Learn Manufacturing Opportunities
Advanced Woods Students Learn to Use Sawmill
Students in Mr. Casper's, CHS Woods Teacher, Advanced Woods class tested out the new sawmill. Lumber has become so expensive and investing in a sawmill reduces the costs Mr. Casper needs to purchase for his classroom. The money saved will pay for the cost of the sawmill in no time.
If you are a community or school member and you or someone you know has wood to donate, contact Mr. Casper at Cudahy High School.

From the Desk of the Superintendent | Dr. Tina Owen-Moore
Dear Cudahy School District Families, Students and Staff,
I hope this letter finds you well as we embrace the beauty November brings. November is a time for reflection and gratitude, and we have so much to be thankful for in the School District of Cudahy. I want to express my deep appreciation to our dedicated educators, staff, parents, and students. Your support and commitment to the education and well-being of our students inspires me each and every day.
We are also incredibly grateful for our partnership with our local Cudahy Police Department. The safety and well-being of our students and staff continue to be a top priority here in the School District of Cudahy, and we have been working with the CPD a great deal lately to ensure that our school facilities are as safe as they can be. We are so grateful for how supportive and knowledgeable they have been and how much they continue to support our school district.
We continue to take strides towards our vision of a safe and thriving 7-12 campus for our Cudahy students. In a time of population decline, shrinking enrollment, and increased expenses, many districts around the state are taking actions such as this one. This grade level reconfiguration will help us to create greater efficiencies and maintain as many opportunities as possible for young people. We have formed a strong 7-12 Merger Team, full of teacher-leaders, who are working incredibly hard at this courageous work. A 7-12 Merger Update is attached as a PDF below. Take a moment to explore the document to understand the "why" behind this decision and the strides we've taken to date.
We also continue to make progress towards the sale of the Park View facility, and while it's under contract, we are working to reclaim everything we can from the facility. Just last month, our facilities team was able to have the flag pole moved to replace the work down flag pole at JE Jones, and the carpet squares throughout the building have been gathered for use in other spaces.
And our Communications Liaison and Grants Specialist is actively applying for funds to support our school and district needs. If you are aware of or see any available grants or scholarships that may benefit our district, please send the information to communications@cudahysd.org.
As we enter the season of gratitude, let us remember that together, we can achieve great things. I am immensely proud of our Cudahy School District community and look forward to the continued growth and success of our students.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our mission of providing the best education possible. To stay informed about the latest district news, please visit our website at cudahysd.org and follow us on social media Facebook.com/cudahyschooldistrict or Instagram @cudahysd.
In gratitude,
