Happy Thanksgiving! I hope that you can enjoy some quality family time that comes with the seasons that we are entering. With the holiday season on our doorstep, I must also admit the winter season is here and with it comes preparing students how to dress for the weather. Coats, hats, and gloves are a must and I am aware that they may not always be fashionable, but they are necessary this time of year. I realize some of our students drive and may not wait for a bus, but we cannot predict when and if a car may stall, or a fire drill may take place. Having the proper apparel is vital in these situations as they may have to be out in the elements for an extended amount of time.
This time of year, is also a busy time of year here at the school as this month marks the beginning of our basketball seasons, wrestling season, and the winter Elementary and High School band and choir concerts. It is exciting to see our students taking part in our extracurricular activities and I am proud of how they represent our school with their hard work and positive attitudes outside of our classrooms.
November is a month that we have many breaks in a short period with Veterans Day and Thanksgiving taking place. This time is vital at school as we are gearing up for semester tests and the conclusion of the marking period. Please remind the students that it is a time to be focused on their studies and to push hard for the end of the semester!
Finally, this month’s quote comes from Arthur Ashe “Success is a journey not a destination. The doing is usually more important than the outcome.” I believe that we are all lifelong learners and that we are always looking to be more successful. I find this quote to be especially true as I watch the young people in our building trying to take the journey of success with the path constantly changing!

Bank of ND has updated their College Handbook to make applying for the FAFSA less complicated for families. They’ve added six new videos that cover what you need to complete the FAFSA, dependent vs. independent students, divorced and single families, determining assets, family size and FAFSA verification. These are in addition to videos on the overview of the financial aid process, Federal Direct and Direct PLUS loans, BND student loans, scholarships and grants, cosigning student loans and tackling credit cards.
They are uploaded to Bank of North Dakota’s YouTube channel so you can start with one and they will play continuously or you can click on them separately. Please share the links with family and friends.
