Toonies for Terry
Terry Fox was just an average kid that loved playing sports and hanging out with his friends and family.
At the age of 18, he was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma. While in hospital he decided to help others that were suffering from cancer. Over the next three years, he began a journey to become one of our greatest Canadian heroes.
Our school is scheduled to run September 22nd 2023 and will be using the following fundraising methods:
- Online: Donate by clicking this link: https://lschools.terryfox.ca/EcolePereKennethKearns
- Collection of $2 per student can be submitted to your homeroom teacher
Food and Nutrition Policy
Our school board (EICS) has a new food and nutrition policy for all schools. You can find the policy called AP168 here: https://www.eics.ab.ca/about-us/procedures (Look in Block 100 - General Administration). This policy says that parents/guardians should only send food for their own children and suggests using non-food rewards/celebrations. The policy gives many ideas for celebrations that don't involve food. Our school will be working with you to find more ways to celebrate without food. Every classroom might do celebrations differently, please ask your homeroom teacher if you have questions or ideas!

Back to School Letter from Alberta Education
Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides has asked all school districts to share his Back to School letter with staff and parents, which is available in English and French. To better understand how this year's provincial budget has impacted our school district, please visit the Trustee Advocacy page on our website. This page highlights our four key priorities as we continue to engage our elected officials.
