The Board of Education Student Showcase honors students with top honors in local, state, and national competitions. The award to each honoree is provided through the generous support of the MPS Foundation.

The Mathematics Curriculum Planning Committee presented the new mathematics framework to the Board during the April 10th committee meeting. Last night the Board unanimously approved part one of the updated curriculum. Part two, which includes the textbook and instructional materials selection, is scheduled to go before the Board in the coming school year. The public will be invited to a Community Materials Review at that time.

The arts and music framework was approved last July. Last night the Board unanimously approved the instructional materials and equipment. Two materials community review meetings were held in March.

You've probably spotted the notices in school and district newsletters and on social media. The district is holding another Materials Community Review. So what are they exactly?

Millard works hard to make sure parents know what is going on in our schools. Curriculum frameworks and instructional materials are updated approximately every seven years. It is a two part process. The first part reviews and updates the instructional frameworks. Then in the second part instructional materials are selected.

During updates we invite the public to come view the proposed instructional materials and talk with the curriculum team about what was chosen and why. These are the Materials Community Reviews. They are held in the evenings on two different dates to help accommodate busy schedules.
