Chinese New Year
Due to a lack of volunteers, PTO has decided not to move forward with the school wide observation of Chinese New Year on the 23rd as previously scheduled. I know that many of you will still do things in your classrooms.
Optional Teacher Workdays
These days are scheduled so that you can get work done in your classrooms. If you are an experienced teacher and earning a higher rate of annual leave you may choose to take some of them off. Teachers at the beginning of their career will typically not have enough annual leave days to take off on optional workdays. Please make sure that you understand how many days you earn and how many are already built into the calendar. Teachers with less than 5 years earn 1.17 days per month which is 11.7 per year. There are 10 days built into the calendar so you would only be able to take off 1.7 optional workdays per school year (really 1.5 as they are done in 1/2 day increments) which would put your balance at zero. You can carry over up to 30 annual leave days and anything over that converts to sick. If you earn enough days to take off you need to complete a blue sheet and put your absence into Smartfind (no sub required). Many people are leaving off the second step which means more work for Barbara.

Mid-Year PDP Reviews
Everyone should be signing up for a mid-year PDP review. If you are getting an observation in the next couple of weeks this will be part of your post conference. Others should have received an email.
Mark your calendars for the first graduation of Williams Montessori!
