May Newsletter 2022
Principal's Message
We have made it to May! In some ways it feels like August was so long ago, but in others, it feels like it was yesterday. I am so proud of the growth and accomplishments that our staff and students have made this year. Teachers have encouraged students to be the best version of themselves each and every day. Students continue to amaze us by doing just that.
We are wrapping up our state WY-TOPP testing. I know students and teachers are relieved when this is complete. I have witnessed students working extremely hard on these assessments. We asked that students to:
1. Be Here
2. Work Their Hardest
3. Follow Teacher's Directions
While observing in classrooms throughout testing, I am proud to say that our students did just that! We have amazing students and staff here at Livingston. They show up and work hard each and every day and it shows! Thank you parents and guardians for supporting your child's education and our school mission, Expectations, Effort and Excellence for All!
As we look towards the end of the 2021-2022 school year there are so many great memories and so many exciting things coming. The end of the school year brings many fun activities, field trips, field day, talent show, and so much more. I encourage your students to be at school, continue to make positive school memories and end the year on high note!
Students will have a chance to meet their teacher for next year on the last day of school, May 26th. The last day of school WILL be a FULL DAY of school. This day is always so fun! Supply lists for next year are listed below.
I want to thank you all again for an amazing school year. Livingston is a great family to be a part of, I am proud of our students and staff and cannot wait to see what next year holds. We will miss our 5th graders as they move on to the Middle School. However, we know that they have bright futures ahead and will continue to shine!
I hope all of our families have a fun and safe summer. I encourage you to continue reading with your students throughout the summer. While summer is crucial for "kids to be kids" and gain life experiences through travel, time with family, working on the family ranch or farm, or simply enjoying the beauty in which we live, it is also important to continue to instill a love for reading.
As always, if there is anything you need, we are here to help. Our school Facebook, website and Instagram will continue to be where you can find the most up to date information about the happenings at Livy. Have a wonderful summer Livingston families and friends!

Note from our nurse
Please pick up your child's medication from the nurses office before the last day of school. Medication MUST be picked up by a parent.
Also, be sun safe! Skin cancer is the number one preventable cancer. Most skin cancers are the result of sun damage and a great deal of exposure/damage occurs before the age of 15. Some tips to protect your children from harmful sun exposure this summer:
- Avoid being out in the the sun between 10am and 4pm, these are the hours of peak ray exposure.
- Apply sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or greater before going out in the sun.
- Re-apply sunscreen every 2-3 hrs. or after swimming or perspiring heavily.
- Cover up with hats and long sleeves. Protect eyes with sunglasses.

SUMMER LEARNING FOR STUDENTS IN
READING AND MATH
Each year, MetaMetrics provides free resources to help engage students in learning through the summer to help combat summer learning loss.
Parents and students can use the Find a Book tool to find books that match their reading level and interests.
Parents can also sign students up for the Quantile Summer Math Challenge which is a six-week program of math practice with grade-level topics. This year’s Summer Math Challenge will begin on Monday, June 20, 2022.
Lexile and Quantile measures are reported on the WY-TOPP Individual Student Report (ISR) that schools send to parents. Both tools have features which allow students, parents, and educators to estimate a Lexile or Quantile measure.
Note: The Lexile and Quantile Hub, which houses the Summer Math Challenge, works best on a laptop or desktop computer, using the Google Chrome or Firefox browser.
