
HCHS 23-24 Cell Phone Policy
Attention Students, Parents, and Guardians
Benefits of the HCHS Cell Phone Policy:

We kindly request your support as guardians in reinforcing the importance of adhering to our cell phone policy. By collaborating with us we can ensure a positive educational experience for all students.
Green = Yes Phone
Yellow = Restricted Phone
Red = No Phone
Green = Yes students may use cell phone.
Before 7:50 a.m.:
Full appropriate access to phones and earbuds in the hallways and all designated areas (cafeteria, main gym, media center)
During Lunch:
Full appropriate access to phones and earbuds in the cafeteria or media center.
Yellow = When students may use cell phones with restrictions.
Two earbuds are not allowed during passing periods for safety concerns.
Red = No cell phone usage is permitted.
NO cell phones are allowed for any reason. Cell phones may NOT be visible (examples of where to store students' phones - students' pockets, in backpacks, over-the-door shoe organizers, zip-locked pencil pouch on a desk, etc.)
Yellow = Restricted Phone
Up to teacher discretion during independent work.
LIMITED cell phone usage is allowed by the teacher for:
students using phones for an instructional activity because of Chromebook issues
one earbud allowed for music
students may get permission to check a text from home, look up grades, etc.
NOT permitted: streaming movies, video, playing games, etc.
Green = Yes students may use cell phone.
FULL-appropriate access is allowed for REWARDS. Students may listen to music, stream movies, videos, play games, etc.
Consequences to Cell Phone Policy:
- Teacher gives the student a verbal warning.
- Teacher asks for the phone and gives it back at the end of class.
- Teacher asks for the phone, writes a discipline notice, and the phone goes to the unit desk until the end of the day.
- Teacher asks for the phone, writes a discipline notice, the phone goes to the unit desk until the end of the day, and the student receives a full day of in-house.
- Teacher writes a discipline notice and the student is assigned Central Academy short-term placement. Further offenses may result in additional placements at Central Academy.
**If a student refuses to hand over the phone at any point, it will result in the rest of the day suspension. Written discipline notice as defiance.**
