Dear Lubbock-Cooper Middle School Families,
We hope this finds you well. Just a reminder that STAAR Math testing for 6-8th grade students will be on Tuesday, May 9. For those students who have Algebra I, testing will be on Wednesday, May 10.

Math STAAR Testing Tuesday!
Tuesday, May 9 - Math Testing All Grades except 8th Grade Algebra I students
Wednesday, May 10 - 8th Grade Algebra I Testing
* Due to student schedules being adjusted for testing, I would like to highly encourage no delivery of lunches on Tuesday. Students will be eating in the cafeteria at different assigned times then normal.

Awards Ceremony by Invitation Only - May 19
Students who have gone above and beyond inside and outside of the classroom will be recognized during our annual awards ceremony. Invitations went out today, Friday, May 5th, for those who will be receiving awards.
Here is the schedule for awards ceremonies:
May 19 - 12:00-1:00 - 6th Grade Students - Big gym
May 19 - 1:30-2:30 - 7th Grade Students - Big gym
May 19 - 3:00-4:00 - 8th Grade Students - Big gym
PRN Medications Return to Students
- Non-prescription medication will be sent home May 17-May 19
- Epi-pens and inhalers will be sent home on May 22
Technology Equipment Costs
Technology turn-in is quickly approaching! Here is the cost breakdown for technology equipment that is lost or broken.
Physical Requirements for next year
As we near the end of the school year, remember that all students planning to participate in 6th grade pre-athletics, all 7th-12th grade athletes, and all 9th-12th grade marching band members MUST have a new physical on file to participate in these activities in the 2023-24 school year! Physicals must be dated after April 1, 2023 to be valid for the 2023-24 school year. If you have questions, please email iwimberly@lcisd.net.
PuraVida Bracelets Sale
We still have lots of the PuraVida bracelets left. If your child wants some, you can get them in the front office. They are $10/piece. Red/black or red/white.

Summer Theater Camp

Free Summer Camp for Middle School Students!
This is a free camp for middle school students to explore hands-on many career opportunities in the medical field.
Casas for CASA
Lubbock-Cooper High School's advanced construction students built two playhouses to be raffled off during the annual Casas for CASA raffle. Playhouses #2 and #3 were built by our LCHS students and can be seen at the 98th and Quaker United Market Street. Please consider supporting this worthy cause by purchasing a raffle ticket and stopping by Market Street to see all of the cute playhouses.
Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation Concert Event
The Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation is proud to welcome CMA and Grammy Award Winning country music artist, Ashley McBryde, to Lubbock on Saturday, May 13th at Cook’s Garage. She will be joined by special guests, Corey Kent and Lubbock-Cooper graduate, Ross Cooper. Sponsor tables are still available by calling (806) 535-9468. General Admission tickets are on sale now at EventBrite.com. All proceeds from this event help fund innovative teacher grants for LCISD teachers and scholarships for outstanding graduating Pirate seniors. School Information:
Absences - Parents are to report student absences including early outs/late arrivals in their Skyward Family Access via an attendance request. This can be done in the app or on a desktop. Click here to view a how to video When submitting an Early Out or Late Arrival absence request, please be sure to UNSELECT the ‘all day check mark’. This ensures the attendance office knows what time your child will be leaving and/or arriving. Campus attendance email is for submitting documentation, such as a doctors note. If you have any questions please contact Annie Young ayoung@lcisd.net or by calling the front office.

Outside Food Delivery - Due to security concerns, no outside entity (DoorDash, Pizza delivery, etc.) will be allowed to drop off lunches for students. Parents/Guardians may bring a lunch for their students. Lunches can be dropped off in the front office. Please be sure your student knows they are getting lunch so they can come pick it up in the office.
Skyward - Lubbock-Cooper ISD provides parents access to their children's records via our student information system, Skyward Family Access. Skyward Family Access maintains an open line of communication between school and home, and allows parents and students the opportunity to view grades, attendance information, schedules, calendars, and additional information any time of day. Student Badges - All students must have their badges on them at all times. Badges will be used everyday to include: Bus Riding, Lunch Purchase, Library Checkout, etc.
Student Dress Code - As we return from summer break, please remind your students of our dress code policy. Student Dress Code
Transportation - If your child will be riding the bus this year, you MUST complete the Transportation Request Form that can be found here. Student badges will be used to ensure the safety of your students this year. Campuses will be able to know exactly where and when students are dropped off and/or picked up.
Communities in School could use some donations for the following items
- Boys deodorant
- Boys shampoo
- Boys body wash
- Girls Deodorant
- Girls Conditioner
- Girls body wash
- Tooth paste
- Soap
- Laundry detergent (smaller bottles so they fit in backpack)
