ERWIN READING FAIR
Projects are due February 29, 2016
What is a Reading Fair?
A reading fair is a chance to share and showcase your favorite book with everyone in school. It is a chance to be creative and show off what you know about characters, settings, plots, problems, solutions, and authors' purpose. But most of all it is a chance to have fun and celebrate reading!
Reading Fair Due Date
All individual and group entries that are turned in by February 29 at 8:00 am, and meet the guidelines explained below and the expectations outlined in the rubric, will receive a certificate of participation and be entered into a drawing for one of 3 prize levels. All projects will be on display in the school library the first week of March for classes to view.
Reading Fair Guidelines
Students in grades PK-5th grade are invited to submit a project for the reading fair. They may share their favorite fiction or non-fiction book. They may work individually or in a group of no more than 3 students. Classes may submit group projects. Each student is limited to participating in only one project unless one of the projects is a class submission.
Reading Fair Display
* Projects should be displayed on a standard tri-fold project board that unfolds to be 36” H x 48” W.
* Identifying information (name of the student(s), student’s grade level, homeroom teacher’s name) should be labeled on the front of the storyboard.
* Storyboards should be colorful and interesting. Models, shadowboxes, and illustrations that fit in the middle of the display are allowed. The total project should not exceed the width, depth or height of the standing display board (approximately 36” W x 14” D x 36” H of table space). There can not be items protruding from the back or top of the board.
* Items on the boards may be handwritten or typed.
* Storyboard content should match the age, grade level, and ability of the students presenting the project. Students do not have to bring or display the book with the project.
* Electrical cords are not allowed.
* No items should hang over the edge of the table or be placed on the floor. Items used for the project are not to be alive, valuable, or dangerous.
* All entries should be turned in by 8:00 am on March 2, 2016 in order to be included in the Reading Fair.
Please see the checklist and rubric for project expectations and detailed information about what should be included in a project.
