Arrival & Dismissal
Our arrival and dismissal maps are located here. Please review them prior to the first day of school. This will help us keep traffic moving smoothly and allow us to get kids into the building safely and on time. A few important things to note that will help our traffic flow:
Cars will enter and exit through the District Office driveway. We close off the HV driveway to avoid traffic moving in a variety of directions and causing a back up in our parking lot.
As a reminder, please do not get out of your vehicle in the car line. If you need to get out for any reason, we ask that you pull into a nearby parking spot and unload that way.
For pick-up, kids will receive signs that go in the passenger side window for pick up. The sign indicates student name & teacher name. This will help our staff quickly identify the child and bring them to the car.
Our car line for K-2 runs along the side of the building (see slides above). We ask that the front car pulls as far forward as possible, near the Activities Entrance. We will not be loading from behind the cross walk in our parking lot. We’ll load in the area between the crosswalk and the Activities Entrance. We ask that you also unload (for morning drop off) in this area only. This is to ensure student safety and to allow our car line to move efficiently. Thank you!
Attendance
Expectations
Regular attendance is expected of all students. For detailed expectations, please see the Sherwood Student Body Handbook, page 7, for complete information.
Tardies
The school day starts at 7:55 am. Late arrivals will need to check into the office and receive a tardy slip before heading to class. When students enter the classroom late, it causes a disruption to the learning environment for everyone. It is essential that all children arrive at school on time and ready to learn. Our team will monitor and address attendance throughout the year and communicate with families.
End of Day Changes (Going Home)
If there will be a change in your child’s going home plans, please contact the teacher AND the front office. Teachers don’t always have time to check their email throughout the day, so it’s important our office staff is aware and can get messages to classrooms. While we know it’s not always possible, we appreciate change of plans being communicated by 1pm. This gives us ample time to share the information.
Student Medications
All medications must be brought in by a parent or guardian, and medications must be in the original container and if a prescription medication, it must have the appropriate pharmacy labeling. We cannot accept any medications in plastic baggies.
To simplify the process and avoid possible long lines, please bring in medication on August 28th during the Meet & Greet (4:00-6:00), or anytime the office is open before the first day of school. Forms will be available in the office for your convenience.
