Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students and Families!
It has been so wonderful to have our student back in school, and we are off to a great start to the 2022-2023 school year. Our students’ engagement and energy to kick off the year is inspiring. We had our first assembly today, and our students and staff showed great enthusiasm and spirit.
Speaking of school spirit, a number of students represented CHS at Parkrose High School this past Friday at an event with our new league, the Northwest Oregon Conference (NWOC). These students came together to discuss expectations for behavior at sporting events. The students made agreements around respect, sportsmanship, and kindness to make sure that all athletes and fans feel welcome in the gym, field, or court.
One of our main themes for this year is engagement. Look for upcoming opportunities for parents and community members to engage with us. We look forward to partnering together to continue the strong tradition of excellence at CHS and find ways to better support our students. Watch for updates in this newsletter.
Please encourage your student to get involved in a club, sport, or activity and to come support their classmates at games and events. We know that students thrive when they feel connected to school, and getting involved in extra and co-curricular activities is one way to augment those connections. There will be a club fair September 19-23 during lunch to help students get more information.
We have a number of events coming up. Tonight, we have our first home football game and a home volleyball match. Please see the athletics section below for some important gate access changes due to construction. Also, please note that we have postponed movie night originally scheduled for Friday, 9/9, due to weather warnings. It will be rescheduled soon.
It has been an amazing first week of school. I am continually blessed to serve our students, families and community. Have a great week.
Best,
Cari Sloan

The first varsity home football game is tonight against Oregon City, game time is at 7pm and gates will open at 6pm. Due to construction the Douglas St entrance at the north east end of the field will not be open. Please use the main gate, tennis courts gate or the baseball gate.
Adults pay $6, children pay $4. High School students with an ABS sticker get in free.
If you plan on attending a lot of sporting events, we have All Sports Passes available for purchase in the accounting office.
Our Canby Booster Club will be providing their annual bbq kickoff event at the tennis courts prior to tonight’s game. The event will start at 5:30pm and all paid members will get complimentary meals for their family in attendance. Membership to Canby Boosters is $20 annually. Attendance at CHS
To ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our attendance process, please remember the following guidelines:
If your student needs to leave class for an appointment or because they are sick, inform the attendance office 30 MINUTES PRIOR to leave time. This will help us ensure that your student receives a note to leave class in a timely manner. Students will not be excused without a note.
Pre-excused absence forms need to be turned into the Attendance Secretary 24 hours PRIOR to leaving for the absence.
To report an absence, call our attendance line at 503-263-7210 or email chs-attendance@canby.k12.or.us.
Please report an absence as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours after the absence.
Remember that attendance matters and students who attend class regularly are more likely to stay on track, graduate on time, learn deeply, and get the most from their high school experience.
