Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We had an awesome pep-rally on Tuesday! Our students on the volleyball teams got to show off their skills by playing against the teachers first and then the boys and girls played against each other. Our other students cheered them on with signs, pompoms and lots of energy! On Wednesday, the boys and girls both played in Hinton for their final GYAC tournament. They did an amazing job with lots of incredible plays. Our girls came in second and the boys came in fourth. Way to go Knights!
One of our school goals this year for numeracy is to create a concrete understanding of number sense, what numbers represent, basic facts/ operations, and problem solving. You will see below in the learning in action section, a great example of all students learning these skills in division. At home, a few ways to build number sense with your child are,
- Get them to county money.
- Ask them math problems while doing different tasks like cleaning up toys.
- Use math vocabulary in conversations.
- Get them to help you cook.
- Get your child to point out patterns you may see.
- Practice basic facts together.
Although it may feel early, many of our teachers have started preparing for our Christmas Concert with their classes. Our concert will be held on December 14th this year, starting at 7:00 P.M., so be sure to save the date!
We are still in need of a girls basketball coach for the upcoming season. If you or someone you know would like to coach, please reach out to the school. You could also share the coaching position with someone to make the schedule more manageable. We will need a coach in order for the season to run so please spread the word to anyone who might be interested.
On Tuesday, November 21, it is Toque Tuesday! Students are encouraged to wear their best toque that day! Friday, November 24, is our special person lunch. All students are encourage to invite someone special to join them for lunch that day. We will be eating in the gym as a whole school. Make sure to ask your child who they are inviting to join them!
Have a wonderful week,
Bailey Benson

Division!
The 4/5 class practiced their division facts and learned about different tools they can use to help them along the way. Students used counters to visually see how their dividend breaks into equal groups giving us the quotient. They also used their multiplication chart to see how multiplication and division are connected.
