WAYS TO HELP YOUR CHILD PERFORM THEIR BEST ON THE ACAP!!!
Implement time for your to read passages to build stamina. 30min., 45min., then 60 min. They also need to complete questions in math for 45 to 60 min. To practice focusing for that length of time.
Be sure your child attends all of their Google Meets especially their enrichment!! - our teachers will be reviewing important skills that will be tested. (schedule below)
- Elementary Schedule: With Mrs. Sykes
8:30-9:30 am - 4th & 5th Grade
9:30-10:10 am - 2nd & 3rd Grade
10:10 - 11:00am - 1st grade
12:15-12:45 pm - Kindergarten
- Middle School Schedule:
ELA Writing - Mr. Du Pre' - Grades 6th - 8th
Mondays and Wednesdays 1pm and Fridays at 11:00am
Math - Mrs. Yarborough - Grades 6th - 8th
Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays at 12:00pm
- If you have any questions about how to access these google meets please be sure to reach out to me.
- Have your child read, read and read!!! It is March Madness with Accelerated Reading - so it's a win, win!! Read to them, let them read to you and let them read independently. Ask questions about setting, characters, author's purpose if nonfiction.
- Keep practicing on Freckle!! Especially Data analysis, Geometry and Fractions. Second and Third Grade do not use a calculator on their ACAP test. Make sure they can read a word problem and be able to figure out what the math problem is.
https://wbte.drcedirect.com/AL/portals/al Go to the above link, then click on the ACAP Summative Online Tool Training AND Online Assessment Tutorial - your child should practice the test questions and work on using the tools at least 4 times a week or more. This will help to build confidence and not let the format or tools stop your child from showing how smart they are.
Do not over stress them- our expectations are for the children to just put forth their best effort, to take their time and be diligent (not to give up). Preparation is key - but make it fun
Send them to school at their best:
*Make sure they get a good night sleep *a protein filled breakfast *shower
* wear school appropriate clothes *brushed hair and teeth *wear deodorant
If your child feels their best, they will perform their best!!
