5th Grade Math with Mrs. Vandever
I look forward to seeing you in class connect. Below I have listed what you will be working on next week. If you have any questions or are struggling, please email me or stay after class connect to ask questions. I’m here to help.
OLS Lessons: Unit 1 Lesson 9 and 12
5th Math TGA 1: Found in USA Test Prep, be sure to complete the entire assignment.
Multiplication Fact Practice: We will be going over a new resource called Math Facts Pro. Students will be expected to login and practice at least 3 times a week. 5th Grade Science with Mr. McIntosh
Please be aware that your daily and weekly plan may not be accurate right now. Use the schedules listed below instead.
Looking Back –
We completed the last lessons of Unit 12 (one of the hardest that you will have all year!), and you should now be ready for the Unit 12 test (due 9/4). Please let me know if you have questions about this unit test because I want everyone to master it. After studying the tiniest of organisms and where they fall into the big picture of living things, we should be in good shape to start looking at how living things work together in making the world the amazing place we know it to be. If you continue down to the Looking Ahead section, you will see exactly what I mean.
Last week’s lessons: Unit 12, Lesson3: Protists and Fungi, & Lesson 4: Viruses
Looking Ahead -
After our study of how we classify living things and how the billions and billions of microscopic organisms can help and hurt us, we will now turn to the ecosystems and organisms that affect how populations of plants and animals will grow or die out. These are important questions for science to consider, and we will try to use our observations of how living things interact to solve problems for the world and for ourselves as human beings (Homo sapiens). We will learn how the changes in living things and their environment have ripple effects for an entire ecosystem. Let’s think BIG now!
Unit 12, Lesson 8: Review and Assessment due on 9/4
Assignments for the week of Sept. 4-7: Unit 2, Lesson 1: Ecosystems and the Environment, & Lesson 2: Producers, Consumers, and Decomposers
Creature of the week – We will look at an animal called the scheltopusik because I think they’re cool. Research them between now and class time to see what you can tell the rest of the class. What is it? Where does it belong in the classification of animals that we discussed last week?
