Principal's Update
Over the past several weeks, the School District has worked to align it's attendance practices. You may notice a few changes in the frequency of attendance letters, or, if you check on the Parent Portal, with the way things are coded.
Here is important information for you to know about school attendance.
- Attendance is compulsory (required) for students ages 6 years and older according to state statute.
- Parents can excuse absences up to 10 days in a school year.
- A note from the doctor or dentist allows absences to be coded as MW, DW,, or ME which do not count towards the 10 days parents can excuse.
- More than 10 days absent in a schoolyear (outside of Medical appointments) is considered habitually truant. For students with open enrollment, this could lead to losing your open enrollment seat.
- If students are sent home from school sick, it is coded as ME (Medically Excused), and does not count towards the 10 days parents/guardians are allowed to excuse their children.
Thank you for working hard to get your children to school on time each day. From one working parent to another, I know it's not always easy!
Small Groups
EHSA Update
1) Bookfair, from February 27th-March 3rd. Thank you to those of you who signed up. We still need at least 4 more people (one in each slot, MINIMUM) to make it happen. Help your child's book dreams come true by signing up HERE.
2) The Spring Dance! Sign up to Volunteer HERE. We're in need of food sales (easy, fun), raffle sales, set, up, and clean up.
Also, during the dance, we have RAFFLE BASKETS. Kids love these. Each grade level has a theme, you donate items, and they're put into baskets. You can put a ticket in to win a basket. Kids have so much fun with this. See the grade level themes below!
