Students from third to fifth grade listened to a piece of music “Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity” from Gustav Holst’s The Planets and created a piece of art inspired by what they heard, without being told anything information about the piece. This was a lesson by SLSO (St. Louis Symphony Orchestra) To Showcase your students’ imagination and creativity with Picture the Music, now in its 33rd year of celebrating artwork from public, private, parochial, and homeschools throughout the region. This year, this FREE cross-curricular art competition invites students in grades K-6 to discover “Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity” from Gustav Holst’s The Planets and respond with paintings and drawings that express creative thought and emotion inspired by the music. Our school was able to select seven pieces of art to be submitted into the contest! The students and their art work are pictured below!

THANK YOU to all who brought in items for our taco bar! Teachers got to enjoy the meal for not only one, but two lunches! We can't tell you how much we appreciate gestures like these!

Play: Dorothy in Wonderland

When: February 16 and 17 - 6:00 p.m.

Cost: Adults: $7, Students: $5, Under 5: Free

Instead of focusing on A's in school, come learn about Z's at home! In November, we invited one of our parents, Sara Peters, to talk about sleep with our students. They might have even shared with you a few things they learned! Now, it is your chance to learn about sleep, blue light, etc. We promise you will learn a lot in this hour!

• Who: Any parents in the district and from our parochial schools
• Where: High school theatre
• When: Thursday, February 9 - 6:00 p.m.

We have an abundance of clothes in the lost and found here at BIS. Please check out the slideshow below to see if any of these items belong to your student. They can stop by anytime to grab their items or you can contact the office and specify which slide # and which item belongs to your student and we can try to get those items in the right hands!

Information for those signed up for Cheer Fair:

Those that completed the registration will join the Blair Oaks High School cheerleaders to perform at half-time of the varsity basketball game on Friday, February 3rd, against Miller Career Academy. The game starts around 7:00 p.m. An announcement will be made for the students to meet in the cafeteria prior to half-time. All participants are free to leave at the conclusion of the performance. A practice will be held on Thursday, February 2nd, from 3:15-4:30 p.m. in the Elementary Gym.

FFA Annual Dinner & Dance

Where: Wardsville Lion's Club

When: February 4th, 2023

Doors open: 5:30 p.m.

Dinner: 6:30 p.m.

Dancing: 8:00 - 11:00 p.m.

Cost: $40 per person; $320 for a table of 8

What else: Live auction, 50/50 raffles, gun raffles
