Srinivasa Mangapuram is a small village located in the Chittoor district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The village is well-known for its Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara.
The History of Srinivasa Mangapuram dates back to ancient times when it was ruled by various dynasties such as the Mauryas, Satavahanas, Chalukyas, and Pallavas. However, the village gained prominence during the rule of the Vijayanagara Empire, when the temple of Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy was built in the 12th century.
According to legend, Lord Venkateswara visited Srinivasa Mangapuram after marrying Padmavati, his consort, in the nearby village of Narayanavanam. It is believed that the lord stayed in the village for six months before returning to his abode in Tirumala.
Over the years, the temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram has undergone several renovations and additions. The most significant of these was during the reign of the Vijayanagara Emperor, Sri Krishnadevaraya, who made significant contributions to the temple. He is said to have constructed a large hall in the temple complex, which is known as the Krishnadevaraya Mandapam.
Apart from its historical and religious significance, Srinivasa Mangapuram is also known for its picturesque surroundings. The village is located amidst lush green hills and is surrounded by several small streams and waterfalls.
Today, the Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Srinivasa Mangapuram is a popular pilgrimage site, attracting thousands of devotees every year. It is believed that a visit to this temple is equivalent to a visit to the famous Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala.
