Levelland ISD's
October 23rd, 2023
We are so fortunate to live in a community that gives back to the school district in many ways. Last week we had such a great time planting the tree that was given to us by Keep Levelland Beautiful and the Apache Corporation. The LIFE Foundation blessed 11 teachers with grants for their classrooms and Levelland Chevrolet Buick GMC graciously donated to our elementary parent organizations. These are just a few examples of how Levelland ISD is supported by our community. This is simply amazing.
Have a wonderful week.
Go Lobos.

Around LISD......
Boss's Day!
LISD celebrated Boss's Day! We love the Leadership that we see every day from these awesome bosses! We appreciate them in every aspect! There were gifts, desserts, breakfasts, and a lunch provided by the Lobo Diner students!
150 Trees!
Our Keep Levelland Beautiful received the 2023 Apache Corporation Tree Grant that provided 450 trees to the Keep Levelland Beautiful program. KLB gave LISD 150 trees! Our LISD Grounds & Maintenance crew will plant the 150 trees on the LISD campuses to make them more inviting. We thank Keep Levelland Beautiful for helping to make our campuses beautiful with this large donation! Thank you to our LISD Grounds & Maintenance crew for planting and watering these!
LIFE Gives Grants!
Well the LIFE Foundation did it again! LIFE gave eleven Levelland ISD educators monetary grants totaling $5,662.71 today. LIFE donates money to LISD teachers to make their out-of-the-box ideas come to fruition. Four teachers ABC received grants: Tammy Branch received Multipurpose Equipment & Area for her classroom. Emily McWaters will get a light table, while Aleesha Smith will get new sensory pathways for her students. Brittany Dagley will have money to purchase coding programs for FunCodeFridays in the computer lab. LMS Music Director Joshua Ballard (not pictured) will have money to purchase new choir uniforms! LMS Librarian Mixie Clowe will add Oculus Technology to the library. Olivia Magee will receive new microscopes for investigative science labs, and Missy Passmore will be able to purchase items for her Career Prep Class. At South Elementary Alexis Gavina received funds to have a dyslexia-friendly classroom, and Mr. Gregory Pledger now has money to start the GEAR Program at South! Finally, the LHS Entrepreneur Class was awarded money to help with expenses that will keep the Los Lobos Project afloat. These projects are amazing and wouldn't be possible without The LIFE Foundation! We thank LIFE for helping to fill our classrooms with these projects that keep our students ahead of the learning curve! LIFE operates solely on donations and fundraisers. If you would like to help out students and teachers, you can make a LIFE donation at City Bank or Hockley County School Employees Credit Union. Thank you to Lillian Northcutt for bringing the cheerleaders, to Mr. Evan Seidel for bringing the drumline, to Superintendent McCutchen, and to the LIFE Board for helping to make these grants a "big deal."
Levelland Chevrolet Buick GMC Gives Back
Levelland is the best place to live with the most caring people! Our Levelland Chevrolet Buick GMC #expectsexcellence and spoiled the LISD elementary Parent Organizations last week! We are so thankful for all of the amazing support we have in this community and from our local businesses, including Levelland Chevrolet Buick GMC! Thank you so much for helping our Parent Clubs reach their goals!
HOSA
Mrs. Sanders' LHS HOSA students learned from a guest speaker last week. Interim Health Volunteer Program Manager Alice Guzman informed students how to become hospice volunteers. These HOSA members can make a difference in a person's well-being by simply showing up to visit, polish nails, comb hair, or play cards. Alice told them about the steps it takes to become a volunteer and encouraged them to make a difference for others. We love that Mrs. Guzman took the time to visit LHS to reach out to our awesome students! Thank you!
2023 Career Expo
The LHS Counselors, Ms. Smith & Mrs. Waddill #ExpectExcellence & took 112 juniors & seniors to a Career Expo in Lubbock to get an idea of big careers & jobs that they might want to pursue. The annual South Plains Career Expo is the premier career education event and the largest of its kind in West Texas, attended by more than 4,300 students and 150+ businesses and colleges. It shows students the amazing diversity of the career opportunities in our region, as well as the skills and education needed to pursue those careers. We are so thankful that our counselors gave LHS students this opportunity to attend!

Multiplying Candy Corn
LMS students in Mrs. Luna’s Math Class explored multiplication outside of the classroom, using candy corn and a Halloween theme! Candy Corn may not have been a favorite treat, but this was one of their favorite activities & they will remember their multiplication facts!
Force, Gravity & Friction
Mrs. Clara Sanders' 4th-grade students were caught learning about force, gravity, and friction in Science! Mrs. Sanders #expectsexcellence and says, "Our students are 'being pulled toward' learning in fun and exciting ways." We know this is a lesson that they won't forget!
South Second Grade Program
South Second Graders performed a Fall Concert under the direction of South Music Director Jennifer Turner. These second graders played ocarinas, sang some fun songs, and showed their talent of reading music and playing the Kongo Drums. Great job to all!
FCA Attend FOF
What a night. Mrs. Hopp and Coach Gibson had the opportunity to take almost 50 students to Fields of Faith Wednesday night and it was so incredibly special. Coach says, "we listened to some awesome testimonies, had worship, and were surrounded by other believers ready to proclaim their love of God. What made the night more special than anything else was watching two of my students, one I’ve known for about 6 years and one I’ve known her whole life, give their lives to Jesus. Getting to witness the best decision of their lives is what makes being busy and tired worth everything. As they were on the field, the rest of the students from LHS gathered together in groups to pray over each other and all of the other students there last night. (To say I cried a little is an understatement.) This group is so special and they are going to bring this world back to Jesus one person at a time. I’m so thankful I’m able to serve as their FCA sponsor and am so proud of everything these kids do." Thank you Coach Gibson and Mrs. Hopp for what you're doing for kids.
Making a Difference..............
We love how our community is visiting the ABC Library to read to our Littles! We've seen some local heroes, some retired teachers (who still have it), and some Levelland influencers! You make a big impression on these students wanting to grow up to be just like you! If you are interested in reading to our ABC Littles, please email Abi Swain at aswain@levellandisd.net to set up a time! It's fun!
Distract the Bulldogs
It was fun catching students all around LISD who were distracting the Bulldogs!

Lobo Basketball Schedule
Coach Windholz invites you to every game!
LHS Educators Honored!
What an honor! Although Senior Night was Tuesday, Saturday was the last day our Loboette seniors would play on their home court. We all know that it takes a village to help these athletes get through high school successfully and know they wouldn’t be who they are today without their family, friends, and teachers! At their playoff win on Saturday, our seniors honored the teacher/coach who they felt has had the greatest impact on them over the years. Seniors dedicated their game jerseys to those influencers on Saturday. #15 Mykka Bihl, dedicated her jersey to Coach Whitney Gibson and Mrs. Debra McVay. #12 Zoe Jordan dedicated her jersey to Mrs. Debra McVay and Coach Whitney Gibson. #11 Tanaeasia Brackens dedicated her jersey to Mrs. Phillis Hopp and Coach Whitney Gibson. #4 Maddie Stafford dedicated her jersey to Coach Alex Soliz. #2 Taylyn Ledesma dedicated her jersey to Coach Whitney Gibson. Thank you to these teachers and all of the others who have influenced these athletes' lives. Our students are lucky to have you in their lives!
Shout Out!
Thank you, Luis Castaneda for the awesome poster you printed for Distracting the Bulldogs!
