Attendance Matters
Bertram's Attendance Tracking
Bertram's ADA for this past week was 95.67%
ADA stands for Average Daily Attendance and is defined as the total days of student attendance divided by the total days of instruction. "98 IS Great!", so 98% is our goal! We recognize that illnesses and events take place that necesitate absences, however, we do encourage every student to be in school every day he/she is able. Let's work toward 98%!
Counselor Corner
This first 6 weeks flew by! Your children have been very busy practicing the 7 Habits and participating in Start With Hello Week. This week was started by the Sandy Hook Promise foundation and is a national call-to-action week dedicated to making new social connections and creating a sense of belonging . Your children learned how to say hello in different ways, and wrote compliments on sticky notes that were displayed on a school-wide banner! (see picture)
I will continue to meet with your children during their library time. For the first part of the month, we will be discussing bullying prevention. These discussions will help better define what bullying is, help students to recognize it, and encourage Bertram Bulldogs to stand up against it.
Later in the month, we will continue to build on our current focus of Courage and Respect, I will be providing activities to support students with Responsibility. As your child continues to learn the 7 Habits, learning about responsibility will help reinforce Habit #1 - Be Proactive, and Habit #3 - Put First Things First. Learning to take responsibility for our actions and education, will help us to be more successful in anything we choose to do! Some ways you can help reinforce responsibility at home is to reinforce positive behaviors, such as doing their homework or chores without being asked. Also, holding them accountable for their responsibilities will allow them to feel successful when they Put First Things First.
Thank you for such a fantastic start, and as always do not hesitate to reach out.
