What Do Students Learn in Guidance Class?

For 2/3 of the school year all BSES students participate in a weekly 30 minute Guidance class taught by our guidance counselors. To round out their academic learning students are taught a variety of concepts and skills related to social and emotional learning as well as career education. Details for Upcoming Events:

Sweet Frog Fundraiser - Headed to the 4th & 5th Grade Bethel Springs Chorus Concert on Monday, December 17th? Swing by Sweet Frog in Glen Mills (600 Town Centre Drive) after the performance to treat your family to some yummy goodness. A percentage of your purchase will benefit our school! The fundraiser runs all day, so even if you aren’t planning on attending the concert, swing by for a sweet treat for a great cause!

Reminders:

Color Me Mine - Pottery Pickup - If you opted for direct pickup at the Color Me Mine event, your finished pottery will be available for pickup from the BSES Office on Friday, December 14th from 3:30-4:30pm. If you have any questions or are not sure what option you selected, please contact Hema Kothari (hemakothari@hotmail.com or 917-991-9861).

Volunteer Spotlight:

Color Me Mine Night - The first Color Me Mine Night at Bethel Springs on Friday, December 7th was a great success thanks to the efforts of Hema Kothari (Lead), Neil Baman, Renata Brooks, Cindy Burgy, Shri Nandan, and Karen Siegel. Special thanks to the Burgy family for generously donating the refreshments sold during the event.

Spiritwear Sale at Color Me Mine Night - Thank you to Derek Lloyd (Lead), Stephanie DerOhannessian (and Lane and Quinn), and Melinda Chiu (and Sophia and Ethan) for all of their hard work setting up, selling, and putting away the Spiritwear at Color Me Mine Night.

Mixed Bag Designs Fundraiser - We had another successful Mixed Bag Designs fundraiser this year brought about by Jeanie Houpt (Lead) with help from Stephanie DerOhannessian, Jenn Harris, Tiffany Kuzmick, Shri Nandan, and Stacey Robinson. If anyone has any questions about their orders, please contact Jeanie Houpt (regina.houpt@gmail.com).

Discover Greece!

This year our Art and Literature Fling will focus on Greece! Each week in our announcements we will include a fact about this fascinating culture that stretches back thousands of years and has had such incredible influence on the world. PLEASE SHARE THE WEEKLY FACT WITH THE KIDS! In May, around the time of our Art and Literature Fling, there will be an electronic quiz on the weekly facts sent home for families to complete. All families achieving a perfect score will have their names put in a prize basket raffle to be drawn at the conclusion of the Art and Literature Fling on Wednesday, May 28th (you'll have to be present to win)!

The Future of Teaching and Learning in Garnet Valley: Informational and Interactive Workshop for All Parents with Children in Grades 3-12

Garnet Valley remains a destination school district for families throughout the country due in part to the push for personalized learning and cutting-edge instructional technologies. Join us at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2019, for an interactive presentation and discussion led by Mr. Samuel Mormando, Director of Technology, Innovation, and Online Learning. Topics will include Garnet Valley’s work to personalize learning for all students, new classroom technologies such as AI (artificial intelligence), AR (augmented reality) & VR (virtual reality), and new educational programs including eSchool@GarnetValley and blended learning options now offered at the high school.
