Classified Appreciation Week 2020

This week, we are proud to celebrate our 1,300 Classified staff members for the work they do behind the scenes to support Orange Unified. Our Classified employees are truly the foundation on which our teachers and administrators rely on to ensure the smooth operation of District programs and services. Even with the schools closed due to the pandemic, Classified staff continues to provide nutritious meals, technology support, facility security and maintenance, fiscal duties, front office work, and many more critical services that ensure the continued operation of the district and support the health and well-being of our families.

I want to thank our Classified employees wholeheartedly for the work they do to support our district and encourage the entire community to join me in celebrating these amazing staff members and their commitment to serve Orange Unified. Classified employees deserve our gratitude and appreciation not only this week but all year long for their important contributions to our community.

I would like to thank the Board of Education for acknowledging all the work the classified employees do for the students and families within our school district. Some of you may not know who classified employees are. They are involved in nearly every aspect of education. Classified employees maintain buildings and grounds; prepare and serve meals; keep school facilities clean and orderly; assist in the classroom; provide aide for the instruction of special education students, English Language Learners, and opportunity gap students; perform and conduct research activities; provide information technology and media services; provide administrative support functions, safe transportation, a secure and healthy environment, and so much more. These classified employees make the wheels of the school system turn each and every day. The work our classified employees do can be invisible to the community, but it enables teachers and administrators to focus on teaching and student achievement.

Without the dedication of our support staff, our schools could not function properly, and we would not be able to educate the students of our District. This support is critical to student success and I encourage the entire community to join us in celebrating these amazing staff members and their commitment to providing the best educational experience to our students. Classified employees deserve the gratitude and appreciation, not only this week, but throughout the year for their contributions to our learning community.

During this unprecedented and dangerous time, our classified employees have gone above and beyond to help provide for our children. Let’s celebrate them and thank them for all they do! I am proud to be the president of our classified members here in the Orange Unified School District! Thank you for all you do! You all ROCK!
