The Largo Principal's Parent Press is a bi-weekly communication newsletter that will be used to keep parents in the know about events, happenings, and updates at Largo High School straight from Principal Lewis' desk.

Congratulations are in order for Science Department Chair, Ms. Cuadera, our Science Department teachers, and students who were recognized for its gains on the LS MISA. Largo had an 8-point increase from 2022 to 2023 and recorded the second highest gains in PGCPS. This is incredible work! We are proud of our teachers and students. For the year, this is the second department to be recognized for increases on state assessments. This is news worth spreading!

In a surprise visit, newly minted, PGCPS Superintendent Millard House II stopped by our school last week. Superintendent House and Principal Lewis chatted about Largo's future and areas that we would like to see development in the district pertaining to how we support students academically, and also in holding them accountable. He shared that he is traveling around to meet with different principles and visit schools to learn about communities, and eventually, to share his plan for the school district moving forward. You never know who will stop by our school from day to day. You always want to be caught working.

Largo is expected to rollout advisory periods Wednesday, October 25. This is in fulfillment with the expectation is that all high schools in PGCPS implement advisory periods to address social and emotional learning needs of our students as a primary concern.

Thursday, October 26, Security representation from PGCPS will meet with Largo's Administration and Security Team will meet for training in ancticipation of delivery of new safetu equipment. As was previously shared, Largo High School is part of phase two of schools to receive their weapons detection equipment. A white paper will come out families prior to implementation.

PGCPS teachers will be participating in professional development on Friday, October 20. Schools will be closed for students.
