TVUSD COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER

TVUSD Parents and Community Members,

Teaching and learning remains the priority in TVUSD, and I am so proud of the students and staff for their continued focus, resilience, and perseverance. I have the honor of visiting schools and classrooms weekly, and in my observations this past week, the 'hustle and bustle' of learning permeates entire campuses. Students are busy learning; more importantly, they are happy and engaged with their teachers and peers. The "United Sports" event hosted at TVHS on Wednesday is just one example of the work our schools are doing to ensure inclusive and welcoming campus environments. At this event, students from five comprehensive high schools within our valley competed in Olympic-style Bocce Ball. The excitement and energy was contagious! Meanwhile, kindergarten students at Barnett Elementary School proudly demonstrated their newly-acquired and impressive reading skills!

As a district, we are in the process of writing a new Facilities Master Plan and invite all community partners and parents to join in this process. Please see the video below for more details on how you can engage and "dream big" to ensure our schools are equipped for the needs of our current and future learners.

In conclusion, we are excited to be nearing what appears to be the end of the 23-month pandemic journey. We are expecting an announcement from the state regarding masks in schools no later than February 28th, and we will let you know as soon as we receive details. In the meantime, thank you for your continued support. Our students are the beneficiaries of the collaborative partnerships we enjoy in TVUSD.

We are pleased to remind you that CDPH has adjusted their Covid Quarantine Guidelines which has allowed us to make some changes to our current practices for reporting. As of 2/3/22:

- All students who test positive for Covid will now report that information directly to each student's school website. Please visit your student's school website for details. There will no longer be access to Let's Talk reporting options for positive Covid results or exposures.

- The quarantine guidelines have been condensed to a one-page document. CLICK HERE to view that document. It is also attached below.

- If your student is exposed to a Covid positive student while at school, you will receive a letter from the school letting you know which classrooms/events/activities the exposure might have occurred in. This letter will come via email.

- As a family, when your student is a direct exposure, we simply ask that you review the guidelines and implement the steps necessary for your student. Let the school know what guidelines you will follow based on your student's circumstances and we will document their attendance accordingly.

- We have added a new button to Let's Talk specifically for asking questions related to Covid quarantine guidelines. If you have any questions about the quarantine requirements for your student, please submit a report and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Please be advised, we still have a Let's Talk reporting button for requesting appointments for Covid testing. Please continue to use this as a resource.

We continue to be here to support your family through this pandemic. If you have any questions about these changes to our practices, please reach out to your student's school site or Health Services at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your support.

HIIA Information

The Centralized Enrollment Center is the first point of contact for new families entering the Temecula Valley Unified School District. The center is staffed by four enrollment technicians and one bilingual clerk. These individuals all work collaboratively to assist parents with the enrollment process. In addition, they also provide our new families with information on resources available in our community at large.

Each technician supports specific schools within the district and they serve as the contact resource for each of them. Mandy Rayfield subbed in the district for 15 years prior to assisting in opening the Centralized Enrollment Center (CEC). Mandy supports the new enrollment of special student populations such as Foster Youth and McKinney-Vento students. She is instrumental in assisting families experiencing homelessness and connecting them with community resources. Trude Warren who has been with TVUSD for the last 32 years, the last 9 years in CEC, is responsible for supporting north area schools as well as TK enrollments. Julie DeJonge has been with TVUSD for the last 20 years and has been with CEC since 2014. She is responsible for all schools in the southern portion of the district. Yvette Jean-Paul is our newest CEC Technician and has been with the district for the last 12 years, coming most recently from Ysabel Barnett where she was the Health Clerk. Yvette supports the schools in the central area of our district. Erika Romo has been a centralized enrollment technician for the last seven years, but earlier this year transitioned full time to the position of Bilingual Clerk. Erika is responsible for requesting student cumulative folders for all of the schools in the district. She is also instrumental in assisting our English Language Learner parents through the enrollment process.

The Centralized Enrollment Center is the first step in welcoming students and building strong relationships with families new to TVUSD. We are proud of our ability to foster positive communication and to be the first smiling faces our new students and families see.
