Barbie Bungee Jump
Mrs. Callaway's AP Statistics class worked to determine how many rubber bands they should attach to Barbie so that she has the best bungee jump from the balcony by the football field. The catch was that students could only use seven rubber bands and the distance from the balcony to ground level to make Barbie's bungee.
Students explored two-variable data sets to investigate associations, assess correlation, and use linear models to predict values of the response variable from the explanatory variable. Students used all their skills learned in the unit to determine how many rubber bands they needed, and then they tested out their results!
Winning Math Strategies
Our budding mathematicians in third grade have been diving headfirst into the exciting world of multiplication! Students have been engaging in interactive and hands-on multiplication games. These captivating games not only make learning multiplication a blast but also provide a solid foundation for understanding the fundamental properties of multiplication. Students are using manipulatives to visualize and manipulate numbers, enhancing their comprehension and mastery of this essential math concept.
Through these interactive activities, our third graders are not only becoming math whizzes but also gaining valuable problem-solving skills and a deeper appreciation for the beauty of mathematics.
Building Character
Our September lower school Pup Rally was all about the three R’s – responsible, respectful, and ready. These key attributes have been recognized by our “specials" teachers, and students have been earning points for their behavior and participation over the last five weeks. During the Pup Rally, the winner for each special was drawn from the classes with the highest number of Paw Points and each winning class received a trophy and a special activity for their class. Great job, lower school!

Multi-Media Experience
The GWA Art department recently visited the Cyclorama at the Atlanta History Center! Students of Mr. Jameson’s Advanced Materials & Techniques and Honors Art Portfolio classes attended to observe the Cyclorama which is a prime example of traditional art and dimensional exhibit combined materials to depict theme and story. Students learned how to combine mediums through spacial awareness for cohesive artworks by observing the Cyclorama from a visual arts perspective vs a historical perspective (as many students may have done sometime in middle school). The 132-year-old multi-media experience combines a 49 x 320-foot oil painting with scaled sculptural diorama elements.
Region Champs!
Congrats to our varsity softball players on their Region Championship win over LCA on Senior Night! Best wishes to senior players, Hayden Stancil and Ellie Woodson and good luck to all in the post season!
