The Lion Line
Volume 4 Issue 8 - March 2023
A Letter from the Headmaster
Dear Parents,
Well, the cooler weather has been absolutely wonderful! I hope you too are enjoying this little change of season we are experiencing. With this cool weather comes the second semester of the school year which always seems to start to fly by so quickly. There is so much to look forward to this semester. As far as Lower School goes, our scholars appear to be happy at school! They too have some fun activities this semester, so be sure to stay updated on events, mainly through the Lion Line.
For Upper School, there is the planned 6th-grade Transitio hike on Cumberland Island, on February 24th. The calendar is full of fun and meaningful events, such as middle school and high school dances, our annual Father/Daughter dance, Grad Night, Prom, and so much more. As we get closer to graduation, I will update you on our planned events for our senior scholars. There is still much work to be done by our scholars to finish strong, especially for our seniors and the completion of their Senior Thesis for graduation. Please talk to your kids daily about school and encourage them in their work.
Finally, I want to thank Lions Council for putting on a beautiful Winter Dinner, on January 27th. Dr. Larry Arnn, President of Hillsdale College was our speaker, and the event sold out. Dr. Arnn was so impressed with our scholars, teachers, and parents. Thank you for being involved with our school. If you are not a member of the Lions Council, please visit Lionscouncil.org and join us as we strive to meet our goal of building intelligent, virtuous American citizens.
Lion Strong!
Mr. Johnson

Time to Pop It and Drop It
It's time to start collecting those pop tabs if you haven't already started!
The SJCA Interact Club needs your soda/pop tabs from aluminum cans. Please collect them, and bring them to your scholar's teacher. This fundraiser will run through May 5th, we will give the Lower School homeroom class and Upper School 7th period class with the most tabs collected (by weight) a pizza party.
**Minimum amount for a class to win a pizza party is 10 lbs. of pop tabs.**
These will be delivered to the Ronald McDonald House in Jacksonville, and they will be recycled for cash to help provide housing for families visiting Jacksonville while their children receive medical care. Thank you for helping us do the good!
Safety Patrol of the Month
Megan Thomas and KJ Muenzmay were selected for their outstanding commitment to the safety patrol program. They both are shining, virtuous scholars and set phenomenal examples for lower-school scholars. KJ greets each scholar with a warm and welcoming greeting, and Megan is always early to her post and acts quickly to help any scholar in need.
Winter Dinner, 2023
The Winter Dinner is a once-a-year celebration recognizing the success of SJCA and helps attendees better understand our unique impact on k-12 education. Over 150 like-minded individuals engaged in meaningful conversation while enjoying a delicious meal at the Academy’s Third Annual event held on Friday, January 27, 2023. It was an evening of toasting the Academy’s success and continued growth, networking with local and state leaders, peers, and the bright minds of SJCA’s faculty, staff, and administration. The event served as an opportunity to support the development of intelligent, virtuous American citizens and as a forum for building long-lasting relationships.
