Attendance Matters

Please remember that every cheerleader is expected to attend every practice for the entire scheduled time, unless alternative arrangements are previously approved by the coaches. To continue improving their cheer skills and ability to work as a team, it is essential that every cheerleader attend each practice for the duration of the practice. 24 hours notice (in writing) before the event to be missed is required for all absences.



Special note - GMS Cheer supports our cheerleaders in their desire to participate in multiple activities. If the cheerleader must miss practice for a school event, they must notify the coaches at least 24 hours before the practice for that absence to be excused. We have had several cheerleaders who have simply not attended practice, have not checked in, or notified the coaches about their other obligations. In the future, cheerleaders will earn demerits if these requirement are not met.


Coach Hall and Coach Bryant try to be aware of the vast amount of school events on campus. But it is the cheerleader's responsibility to keep the coaches informed of the events that they are involved in, especially those that conflict with cheer.

What Do We Wear On Game Days?

The team will wear a GMS spirit shirt and jeans to school on game days. They will be expected to wear their full uniform, white socks, cheer shoes and red bow to the games.

My Cheerleader Plays Volleyball.....How Does That Work?

On days where we cheer at girls' volleyball games, we understand your cheerleader has a very busy night. While she is not playing or warming up, we would like our cheerleaders to come and sit with the team and spirit where appropriate. They do not need to worry about changing into their cheer uniform to do this, but should pack their poms so they can spirit using them.


This is not intended to keep your cheerleader from bonding with their volleyball team or preparing for their game, but instead is a way for them to participate in both activities. Please let us know if you have any questions!

Varsity - Second Order

Our Varsity representative will be at practice on Wednesday to size the girls for warm ups. All 7th graders will need to order warm ups and any new 8th graders or those who have outgrown their previous set. Poms will also be ordered on this round. If there are any additional needs you or your cheerleader have, please let the coaches know and we will work to connect you with the Varsity representative.


Like last time, you will receive a summary of the order and will pay Varsity directly online through the online pay portal.

LAST CALL! Save the Date: Competition Cheer Team Tryouts

Tryouts will be held on Wednesday, September 4 from 5:30 - 6:15 PM (after our regularly scheduled practice). We will not only try to identify team member who can work together as a team to put an awesome routine on the mat but we will also determine if we will compete in the competition or game day competitions.


Athletes will be evaluated on tumbling, stunting, motions, voice projection and spirit. While tumbling will be evaluated, TUMBLING IS NOT REQUIRED FOR PARTICIPATION ON THE COMPETITION TEAM.

Fundraiser Update - THE CHOCOLATE IS BACK!

We are planning to kick off our year with a bang by starting a fundraiser during the month of September. THE CHOCOLATE IS BACK! Boxes will be delivered to school on September 9 and our fundraiser will officially kick off on Monday, September 12.


This will be a team fundraiser and all funds raised will go to new, much needed materials for our team such as practice mats, signs, and megaphones. All team members are expected to participate because the fundraiser will benefit our team as a whole. It is our expectation that each cheerleader sell 3 boxes of chocolate. For those who are new to the team, we promise this is easier than it sounds! We had several cheerleaders who sold 2-3 boxes in a single day last year!


New this year - there will be prizes for our top overall sellers!
