Dr. Stevenson's Weekly News- Week 3
What's happening in Culture, Communication, and Collaboration?
Here are some updates for this week:
- Thanks for all of your support and engagement at our early out on Wednesday. I know that talking about our school culture is important work as well as our work in reading and math, but I was again reminded of how passionate all of you are to be here at NA and that made for a great, productive meeting. We got a lot accomplished and I have taken your feedback and made a draft for 15-16 to work on with the BLT. Please do take the time to fill out the Google Form regarding Culture, Communication, and Collaboration. Here is the link for all NA staff: http://goo.gl/forms/6L8wQQJVid
- I am excited to welcome Sarah Rasmer as our new part-time kindergarten paraeducator. Sarah will join us later next week. She will work in kindergarten for math support from 9:30-11:30, help with kindergarten lunch/recess duty, and work for an hour with attendance/tardy supports.
- We have our first PTA meeting on Monday night at 6:30 and Becca and Kathy have volunteered to attend.
- We are making great progress on our ODRs from last year.
- Jenni, Ann, Jordan, and Becca will be gone next week to Des Moines for Reading Corps annual training. Jenni will be gone Tuesday and Friday. The others are gone Tuesday-Friday.
- Kimberly will be out Monday, but Mindy is covering and we have a sub for Mindy.
- We still have not found our last Americorps literacy tutor. If you know anyone who might be interested, please let me know. The window for hiring is about to close.
- Thank you to all of you that attended the PTA Ice Cream Social/Curriculum Night. we had 160 of our 303 PK-5 students and their families attend which was awesome! And thank you to fifth grade and Scott for the "Watch Me" flash mob!
- No formal grade level PK-5 data teams again the week of August 31-September 4 due to FAST testing. Please do meet as a team of two teachers, though, to get in the habit at your Monday or Tuesday scheduled time. I will try to pop in and check in with you then again this week.
- Don't forget that the district is hosting the PK-2 curriculum night on Tuesday night from 6-7 at the BHS PAC and the 3rd-5th curriculum night on Wednesday night from 6-7 at the BHS PAC. It is voluntary to attend.
- FAST testing for aMath and FAST CBMS will be this week. PLEASE stay as quiet as you can (Level 0 hallway) by the computer lab and library. A detailed schedule went out via email from Carrie. Thanks in advance for being flexible and to Jenni, Carrie, Colleen, Sally, Holly, and Stacey for their work on FAST.
