SHES Weekly Update
Sunday, October 31, 2021
Hello SHES Families!
I can't believe it is already the second week of November! We have already had a jam-packed school year between Mexican Independence Day, Fall Festival, Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, and our first Spirit Awards Assembly in two years! The beginning part of the year always flies by for us. We still have a lot planned over the last weeks of 2021, and we cannot wait to share this particular time of the year with our students again.
Our Red Ribbon Week was a huge success! Thank you to all the students, families, teachers, and staff for participating, and a HUGE thank you to our PTA for their hard work in creating this memorable week!
We are looking forward to seeing our families on campus during Parent-Teacher Conferences. We know how important it is for our students to know that parents and school staff work together towards their success.
PBIS Survey
As many of you know, our school follows the Positive Behavior and Supports Model (PBIS), where we have three school rules: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible. Once a trimester, we evaluate our work through the eyes of our third through fifth-grade students and all grade level families to continually improve our school's climate. We never want to stop growing.
We ask students and families to take their respective anonymous surveys to evaluate, learn and move forward together to make SHES the best school it can be. Students will be taking the survey in class during the week of November 8-12, 2021.
Parent Opt-Out Form: For third through fifth-grade families that do not want their child to take the in-class survey.
Families, please complete the survey below
Breakfast with the Heroes
Punkin' Chunkin'
The Punkin' Chunkin' Engineering Field Day, hosted by the Alpine Education Foundation, is this week for 4th and 5th-grade students on November 9th and 10th. Students will build 8-12 foot trebuchets in small groups and then launch objects onto the field for distance and accuracy. The event helps promote engineering, physics, construction, collaboration, and mathematics. If you would like to see the event in action, check out this video https://youtu.be/tl11BbgSGXg
The Punkin' Chunkin' will be at Shadow Hills Elementary School from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm, so please anticipate extra traffic and limited parking as extra volunteers will be on-site throughout the day. If you want to volunteer with your student's class or as an additional set of hands to help, please sign up with your teacher or the front office. All volunteers will need to have their volunteer paperwork on file with the school ahead of time. As a reminder, all volunteers need to provide proof of a COVID vaccination OR negative test results taken within the seven days of volunteering. Masks will be required in all indoor spaces. Thank you!
