Congratulations to those students who continue to work hard on improving their grades! Although there are few, if any, students and parents or guardians who are totally pleased with the grades that are being brought home, there is a ray of light that has started to shine. When the cohort team compared the grades from midterm Quarter 3 to the final Quarter 3 grades, they saw the number of passing grades increase by more than 300! As a matter of fact, grades were going up for almost every letter on the grading scale

Although there is some satisfaction to be had with this improvement, the battle is FAR from won. When we return from Spring Break, there will be approximately eight weeks left in the semester...eight short weeks. The cohort team's goal for our students is to have each student earn all his credits. Realistically, we know that may not happen. So, we are providing all of the support and tools we can for your student to improve no matter what their levels of success are right now. (See Coach Green below)

Parents and guardians~

Please continue to help your student grow by encouraging him and praising his improvements--no matter how large or how small. Your genuine praise and acknowledgement is the most important thing in helping your child grow.

The Centennial Class of 2024 has a class motto: KEEPIN' IT 100! The committee received more than 40 outstanding suggestions for the motto and had a difficult time making their final decision. Because there were so many thought provoking entries, the winning motto was inspired by a combination of those ideas.

A special shout out and THANK YOU to the talented students who submitted ideas: Arianna Clay, Hazel Miller, Aileen Stockdale, Jo'Rae Jones, Maraysia Brewer, Ke'Vae King, Norma Torres and Desiree Thurman. Since there was no clear winner of the class motto contest, a blind draw was held to select the winner of a 2020-2021 yearbook. CONGRATULATIONS GOES TO...

KE'VAE KING!

As you may recall, when we delayed the start of the 20-21 school year due to COVID, we had to shorten our Spring Break from two weeks to one. Spring Break is scheduled for March 29th - April 2nd. School will resume on Monday, April 5th.

It is no secret that to be successful in school and to get good grades, you have to do your work...sooner or later. Some of you have been keeping up with your assignments while others of you, for a number of reasons, have not kept up. For those of you who put off having fun these past several weeks by doing your school work on a daily basis...Have a relaxing Spring Break!

For those of you who struggled concentrating, getting on task or staying on task when it came time to do your schoolwork this semester, do not give up. Spring Break is a perfect time to make up work, to grow in self-discipline, and to grow your self-esteem. You can still have fun during the break AND get missing assignments done if you have a plan.

Use one page of notebook paper and write the name of your Period 1 class at the top of the page. Go to Synergy to find your current and missing assignments for this quarter. Write down the assignments and point values on your sheet.

Repeat this process for your remaining classes. KEEP THESE PAGES WITH YOUR CHROMEBOOK AT ALL TIMES.

Before Spring Break starts on March 29, print or make a copy on notebook paper of the “STUDY-WORK-PLAY SUCCESS SCHEDULE” shown below.

Block out eight boxes each day for school work. Try to choose times of the day when you are most alert. Each time you complete a 30 minute study session, check it off. If you have to make adjustments during the day, that is all right as long as you eventually check off eight boxes. Any day you check less than eight boxes, you have to add those time slots to another day or to the weekend. SELF-DISCIPLINE BUILDS SELF-ESTEEM!

As one of the entries in our motto contest said so perfectly, "You have two options: make progress or make excuses".

It's all right there...what you have to do and when you are going to do it. Your assignments are already written down so open your Chromebook when the time comes and get to work! If you get distracted by keeping track of your time then set a timer and forget about it. Being able to focus is a skill...the more you do it, the better you get. Stay positive and NEVER QUIT...EVER!

The 2021 Summer School session will be held from June 7th-June 30th and will be offered at no cost to current Warren Central students. Online registration has begun. Please be sure to sign up with a Warren Central student email account. Additional information has been sent to students and families and can be accessed Here . Summer school is a great opportunity to recover credits and work ahead in certain classes. Be sure to carefully review all information about this year’s summer school opportunities.

One of our Invest in Warren Strategic Plan focus areas is Investing in Relationships with our families and the community. The Warren Family and Caregiver Survey for the second semester is now available and can be accessed at the following link, bit.ly/WarrenSurvey2021. The survey will remain open through March 29th. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

I am incredibly thankful that our hard working educators now have the ability to get the COVID-19 vaccine. While this is encouraging news, we must all still remain vigilant and continue to follow COVID-19 safety protocols. Please remind your students to continue to wear a face covering over their nose and mouth when in the school building, maintain social distance, and wash their hands frequently. Additionally, please continue to quarantine and report students that are symptomatic or have tested positive for COVID.

Just a reminder that our food distributions are on Tuesdays from 8:00 - 9:30 AM and 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Moorhead Community Resource Center.
