PES Notes
Week of January 9th-13th
Welcome Back!
Hello!
I hope this finds you well. It was great to get back to our routine with students. I enjoy seeing them every morning as they get off the bus or are dropped off. As I walked through classes this week, it was refreshing to see how our students missed the company of each other.
Report cards came home Friday, January 5th. Please contact your child’s teacher or call the school if you did not receive one. If you have any questions, please let us know. While most parents do an excellent job of checking ParentVue, I would encourage you to check it at least once a week. It allows you to keep up with absences and grades. If you forgot your login information, please send an email to pes@decaturschools.org. We will try to get it to you as soon as possible.
As I always do, I want to encourage you to read with your child. While it may seem tedious, I promise it will make a difference. For our 3rd and 4th-grade parents, I encourage you to work on multiplication with your child. I will attach some links for multiplication on this page, as well as some reading links.
Thank you for allowing your child to be part of PES. We are blessed to work with each one. Please feel free to call or email me with any questions. Have a great week!

General Information
Smart School
SMART SCHOOL is in full force. Smart School is a chance for students to get extra help with homework, studying for tests, and keeping up to date with online programs. Smart School is open until 6 each day. If you want more information about it, please contact Dr. Pearcy by emailing her @ amanda.pearcy@decaturschools.org.
ELA Case Scores
At the end of each nine weeks, our 2nd - 4th-grade students take the CASE Assessment. The CASE Assessment gives us an idea of how a student will do on the TNREADY test we take in late April/ early May. This week, I am sharing with you our ELA Scores. The first two bars under each grade level are our targets in this graph. We are shooting for this at the state level on the TNReady. Column 3 is our first CASE taken before Fall break, and the last column is the assessment we took before our Christmas break.
Attendance
We will begin our attendance battle next week for the 3rd nine weeks. Over the past few days, I have looked at the number of students with perfect attendance during the first semester. According to our record, we had 23. Watch for their pictures over the next few weeks. We also had two members of our staff with perfect attendance. We will share them with you next week.
PAID Sheets - will update Tuesday afternoon.
Here is the link for this week's PAID sheets. These sheets will inform you of what is happening in the student's classroom. You may also find teacher contact information on them.
Family Math Night
Family Math Nigh
We will have different activities for each age level based on what they are working on in class. This will be an opportunity for parents and students to work together. We will also provide hotdogs and drinks for students and parents. I would ask you to RSVP so we have an idea of how many will attend.
