State of the Storm

Storm Families,

Well, not much to report on the front this week. High School swimming has started, so many of our swimmers are very tired and water-logged.

Our youngest swimmers are getting ready for their Candy Cane meet this Sunday, and we wish the best of luck to them. Hopefully, they don't eat too many candy canes!!

Eight GSCY Storm athletes qualified for the upcoming 2022 Speedo Winter Junior Championships, with six slated to compete. The championships will be held from December 7th to December 10th at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC.

As part of our efforts to continue to build and strengthen our program, GSCY Storm is pleased to announce that Coach Evan will be taking on the role of Associate Director, Competitive Aquatics for the 13/O age groups. Coach Evan is currently the practice group lead coach for the Senior 4 and Junior 3 practice groups, and will continue to serve as the lead coach while also providing support behind the scenes across the 13/O age groups.

Coach Evan grew up swimming and competing in various sports, gravitating towards swimming in high school. From there, he attended Ramapo College of New Jersey, where he continued to swim for four years, enjoying success and a bevy of memories still treasured. After volunteering for a stint at his alma mater in 2018, Evan joined the staff at the Somerset Hills YMCA beginning in September of 2018. He looks forward to the continued success of both athletes and colleagues going forward.

Please join us in congratulating Coach Evan and wishing him success in his new role.

It was wonderful to see so many of our GSCY alumni spend time together over Thanksgiving break! They were joined by some current GSCY athletes who are getting closer to embarking on their own college careers.

Our GSCY alumni also shared important information about Special Needs Undergraduate Swim Lessons (SNUGS), a non-profit organization that organizes free swim instruction for special needs children by engaging university students within their communities. A few of our alumni are already members:
