Holy Cross Catholic School
From the Desk of Mrs. Wagner
September 9, 2022
Love filled the room and our hearts this morning. We will forever be grateful for our grandparents and the special people in our lives that have shown us unconditional love. They have modeled their faith in God, love of family and the meaning of hard work.
Here at Holy Cross we get to feel love all around us every day, but the love felt today was abundant. It was an honor to be in the presence of so many families. Being able to witness the love shared between our students and their loved ones, brought an overwhelming feeling of joy.
Happy Grandparent's Day to all!

Lemon Out Day on Thursday, September 15 (Yellow or Chiefs)
Basic info:
The dress-down day is Thursday, September 15, 2022. Kids can bring a donation (we ask for $5) to dress out of uniform. Encourage kids to wear yellow or gold (the color for pediatric cancer).
Events: 9/15 at night @ SJA
St. James Academy would love to have a full house for the hero ceremony @ 5:30pm. They will honor 10 different families who have fought pediatric cancer in some way and 10 heroes who are survivors of pediatric cancer! They are starting early so people can get home for the Chiefs game :). We will have a food truck and some awesome raffle prizes.

Archdiocesan Policy for Snacks/Treats in the Classroom
FROM THE NURSES
There is an Archdiocesan Policy for bringing snacks and treats into the classroom. We are required to follow it as are all the schools in the archdiocese.
The policy states that snacks and treats brought into the classroom must be in prepackaged wrappers with the ingredients listed on the label. They MUST be peanut / tree nut / dairy free for classrooms that have these allergies in them.
Home baked foods are NOT allowed in any classroom.
Bakery shop and donut shop items are ONLY allowed in those classrooms that do not have a peanut / tree nut / dairy allergy, but they MUST have an ingredient label on them.
To ensure safe snacks and treats in the classrooms, be sure to read the ingredients list and the “may contain” statement and also look to see if there is a “processed in a factory that also processes peanuts and/or tree nuts” statement.
WE ARE REQUIRED TO SEND BACK HOME any snack or treat that is considered unsafe in a classroom that has a food allergy. Attention to the ingredients label will prevent this from happening. You can also call us ahead to ask.
We are sorry that we are unable to provide you with a “safe snacks list” due to the fact that manufacturers often change back and forth between processing plants and factories, therefore the snack may be safe one month and unsafe the next month, according to which plant or factory the snacks were made in.
We hope that this information helps! We are sorry that the policy may make it a little more difficult to choose snacks and treats you would like to send, but you can feel good knowing that the affected children and their families who have to live with these life threatening allergies are very appreciative of your efforts and attention to this matter.
Please feel free to call or email the nurse office if you have any questions about possible allergies in your child’s class or to check on a safe snack. We are always happy to help you. Thank you so much!
